We only have one more season of Stranger Things to go, but Netflix has announced that the Upside Down adventures will continue in animated form.
According to THR, a new animated series based on the massively popular horror/sci-fi drama is in the works.
The project was given a straight-to-series order, and while specific plot details are still under wraps, The Duffer Brothers did tease the tone of the show in a joint statement.
“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” said the pair. “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues …”
Matt and Ross will also exec-produce alongside Stranger Things collaborators, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps. Sydney-based studio Flying Bark is handling the animation.
We don't know if any actors from the main show will return to provide the voices for their characters, or if this series will even focus on Eleven and the gang, but one would assume at least one or two familiar faces will be back in 'toon form!
