The Guardians of Justice is now streaming on Netflix, and it's... quite something!
The show is a passion project of Castlevania producer Adi Shankar, and mixes live action with traditional animation, claymation, 8-bit video, and more to somewhat bizarre effect.
Inspired by the likes of Justice League and Watchmen, the series stars former WCW Champion and current AEW legend Diamond Dallas Page as Night Hawk, who launches an investigation after his friend and leader Marvelous Man (Will Yun Lee) takes his own life on live television.
Shankar's influences are clear, and while he doesn't shy away from paying homage to (some might say ripping off) several well-known movie, comic book and anime properties (one of the villains is basically Krang from TMNT), there is plenty of innovation and creativity on display.
Check out the trailer below, and let us know if you plan on giving The Guardians of Justice a go.
"The alien superhero MARVELOUS MAN has kept the earth at peace for 40 years. But when a devastating secret and its tragic consequences throws our world into chaos, it's up to Marvelous Man's bitter, violent lieutenant KNIGHT HAWK and idealistic do-gooder THE SPEED to stop nuclear war. An art house satire of the superhero genre, Guardians of Justice mixes live action with traditional animation, claymation, cut out paper animation, and 8-bit video game footage in a kaleidoscope of pop art insanity."
TGOJ also stars Sharni Vison, RJ Mitte, Hal Ozsan, Christopher Judge, Jane Seymour, Denise Richards, Derek Mears, and Andy Milonakis.
