We found out back in July that Netflix was developing a 6-episode prequel series for The Witcher titled Blood Origin, and now we have some more details on the show's main characters.
According to The Illuminerdi, the spinoff is currently looking for actors to play the male and female leads, who are said to be part of warring elf clans.
The woman, Eile, is a member of a clan that uses knives as their primary weapon. A diverse actress in her late 20s to early 30s with a background in dance and stunt work is being sought. The male lead, Fjall, is described as physically strong, raw, gritty and visceral.
Previous rumors have indicated that another character named Princess Merwyn will be a key part of the show, but there's no mention of her here.
Plot details are still mostly under wraps, but we do know that Blood Origin will be set 1200 years before the events of The Witcher, and focus on the origin of the very first Witcher and the events that lead to the pivotal "conjunction of the spheres."
Declan de Barra will serve as showrunner and will also executive produce along with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The Witcher novelist Andrzej Sapkowski is on board as creative consultant.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is reportedly set to commence production in The UK next year.
