Platige has officially announced that a TV adaptation of Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher is headed to Netflix.

The story, which focuses on the adventures of Geralt of Rivia and his quest to become a powerful monster-hunter, has already been adapted as a feature and its small-screen spinoff known as The Hexer back in the early noughties, but neither was very well received. This time, however, Sapkowski seems very happy with how things are coming together and will serve as as a creative consultant on the series.

“I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,” said the author in a press release.“I’m excited about our efforts together as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life.”

Tomek Baginski, who directed the prelude videos for all three video games in The Witcher series, is expected to helm at least one episode of the show. No other details are available for the time being, but keep an eye on CBM for updates.
