MAN OF STEEL Star Henry Cavill Comments On Rumors He'll Star In HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2

Henry Cavill (Justice League) and Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision) are both rumoured to star in House of the Dragon season 2, and the former has now weighed in on whether he really is heading to Westeros.

This past weekend, news broke that Henry Cavill is leaving The Witcher after season 3. Liam Hemsworth is set to take over from him in a now-confirmed fourth season, so the Superman actor's time as Geralt of Rivia will end with that next batch of episodes.

Recently, there have been rumblings HBO is looking to enlist Cavill for a role in season 2 of Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, and his departure from The Witcher may at least open the door to that happening. What does the actor himself have to say about those rumours?

"To be fair, when I was watching House of the Dragon, I was like, 'I feel like a lot of these guys could make really good Witchers...'" Cavill told Josh Horowitz (via SFFGazette.com) prior to the news that his time in The Witcher is over. "I think it would be cool to be in Westeros, I really do. I don't think there's a place for me in there, though."

At the same time we first heard about Cavill's possible involvement in the show, it was also reported that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Elizabeth Olsen could join him.

However, she recently stated, "I don't know how rumors like that get started and people think they're legitimate." Olsen also said she would be open to taking a trip to Westeros, though, so perhaps House of the Dragon's showrunners will do what they can to make this happen as season 2 gears up for production in the coming months.

While Olsen remains busy with her MCU commitments, Cavill recently signed up to return as Superman in the DCU. Despite that, we're sure he could find time for a role in another big fantasy franchise by joining the popular Game of Thrones prequel series.

The entire first season of House of the Dragon is now available to watch on HBO and HBO Max, while season 2 is believed to be taking aim at a 2024 premiere.
