The third episode of Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ just a few hours from now, but if you want a little preview of what looks to be an exciting action sequence, Lucasfilm has shared a first look online.

In this clip, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren engage in an aerial dogfight with some enemy ships (it looks like the mysterious Marrok is leading the attack), and Sabine manages to take out one of their pursuers.

Star Wars fans will likely recognize the callback to a scene from A New Hope, which saw Luke Skywalker shoot down a TIE-Fighter when the Millennium Falcon was making its escape following the rescue of Princess Leia.

Han Solo may have told the young soon-to-be Jedi not to "get cocky," but Ahsoka seems to be taking a more encouraging approach to her Padawan's training.

Check out the sneak peek in the player below.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.

Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.

at some point in the near future, we'll be able to remake the entire OT out of various clips from Disney's Star Wars movies and TV shows.

At what point does it stop being a homage and just become lazy writing?

@kazuma - The series opens with the "Ceremony of Expositon to which the main character is late" trope, that was not only discovered as a cave painting, but paintings deeper in the *same cave* then depicted it as a dead horse being kicked.

In more recent memory, Obi Wan did pretty much the same thing--isn't that also Star Wars related, somehow?

Yes, it's lazy writing.

Great, more nostalgia.

Just what I’d expect out of today’s woke Star Wars, where the S stands for She and the W stands for Women and the second s stands for sorority.

How dare they create characters that are powerful women?

TBH It didn't register in me that it was a homage, but maybe they're saving more of those for future upcoming episodes.

Pretty excited for the new episode. Looks like they'll make it to Dathomir already.

All I keep seeing is beta males upset at female characters. They had no issues with Clone Wars and Rebels but somehow because Ahsoka has a live action show, now they have an issue with female characters. Insecurities and fragile masculinity is strong in this article.

@SonOfAGif - it’s all the usual suspects. Even worse they used to use Ahsoka as an example of how they weren’t sexist until exactly one week ago lol. Bunch of man babies.

@MrDandy - Yeah it's so bizarre. I remember how Ahsoka and Bo Katan were genuinely loved by the very same folks that are suddenly against them. All for the sake of their "Anti-Woke" political aspirations. It's sad to see that their political views have clouded their judgement on the very characters they used to love.

@MrDandy - They always use examples like Ashoka, Ripley, Sarah Conner, etc. But that was all from before the internet suddenly started using the term 'woke' to described anyone who wasn't white or male being "Forced down our throats".

They try to say it's not bigotry, it's a genuine complaint about a current woke agenda and things that are generally agreed on to be cool like Ashoka or Ripley somehow don't count.

They think they don't count because when they came out there wasn't this culture of anti-woke complaining about it. Thee were just people who saw how cool these characters were and bigots. And they don't want to be labelled as bigots.

But now there's a live action Ashoka, they have to hate it. Oh but it was okay in Clone Wars because (fill in the blank).

When they finally revisit the character of Ripley, they'll hate that too. They'll hate it because she's a woman not a man. Oh but the original movies they're still okay with because (fill in the blank).

Imo, this is a perfect show to promote their woman empowerment agenda.

Kanan is dead, ezra is missing. And ahsoka, sabine and hera are not some mary sue.

But it will be interesting to see why there is no Luke here. HE SHOULD BE HERE.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 8/29/2023, 9:44 PM
@vectorsigma - I think Luke isn't here because when Ahsoka went to visit him in The Book of Boba Fett she saw him building the new Jedi Temple and she sort of turned off the "Old ways" and wanted no part of rebuilding the Jedi order. I also think that if Luke has new padawans, Ahsoka couldn't risk Elsbeth and Thrawn learning about it and pulling another Order 66 on the younglings.
vectorsigma
vectorsigma - 8/29/2023, 9:53 PM
@SonOfAGif - sounds fair.

On the other hand, i think luke should feel that disturbance in the force about thrawn and all he is working on will be for naught if trawn becomes powerful again.

Whatever it is, I just hope we get a good explanation from this show.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 8/29/2023, 10:22 PM
@vectorsigma - Maybe that will be explained when they go into the hidden galaxy? Perhaps that Galaxy doesn't have The Force. It can also explain why Thrawn is hiding there.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 8/30/2023, 5:04 AM
@vectorsigma - This is all leading to the movie, which will be The Avengers of the Mandoverse. Luke will be there, don't you worry you're sweet little head child. Luke Skywalker will be front and center leading the charge being backed up by his padawans, the Ghost crew and with Mando by his side and Bo Katan leading an army of Mandalorians. Might even have Han, Leia and Lando if we're lucky. And a little C-3PO and R2 action wouldn't go amiss either.

Filoni got this bra.

Filoni gonna deliver every fanboys wet dream ever as a Return of the Jedi sequel. We will weep from every orifice.

@ObserverIO - this sounds good.

Unless Kennedy pulls out Rey from the world between worlds
vectorsigma
vectorsigma - 8/30/2023, 8:37 PM
@SonOfAGif - that could ve possible. I am in the belief though that the force will be universal, much like gravity. If that new galaxy gets explored maybe they have different uses of it
