The Ahsoka social media embargo lifted yesterday evening and the response thus far has been extremely positive. For those of you who haven't watched Star Wars Rebels, it would be a good idea to at least hunt down a YouTube recap, but rest assured the series is an absolute blast.
We actually get to see some of the show's epic action in the first clip from the upcoming Disney+ TV series (first shared on SFFGazette.com).
As Hera Syndulla and Chopper (who has translated to live-action perfectly) chase down a fleeing ship, we see Ahsoka Tano engaging in lightsaber combat in an effort to fend off a mysterious Sith Inquisitor and his droid companion.
We know his name is Marrok, of course, but beyond that...well, it feels like the reveal of whoever is beneath the helmet will be a big moment in the Star Wars series. Then again, he may just be a secondary villain with no ties to any existing characters.
Earlier today, news also broke that Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ quite a bit sooner than expected. You can read about that by clicking here. Then, check out this clip from the series below!
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23 with a two-episode premiere.
