While all eyes may currently be on Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion, there's not long to go until the next live-action Star Wars series arrives on Disney+. Ahsoka, a live-action sequel to Star Wars Rebels which is expected to set the stage for Dave Filoni's planned movie, is nearly here, as is a new sneak peek!
Disney has announced (via SFFGazette.com) that, during this weekend's "2023 ESSENCE Festival of Culture," the studio will host "events and panels on Saturday and Sunday that also include special looks at the new Disney+ series 'Star Wars: Ahsoka' and Walt Disney Animation Studios' upcoming musical feature 'Wish.'"
ESSENCE will be live-streamed on Hulu on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8.00pm - 12.59am ET, meaning this Ahsoka trailer will debut during one of those shows across the weekend. Even if this isn't a full trailer, we'd guess it will still be a TV spot or clip featuring never-before-seen footage.
It's a shame we don't have a specific time for when this new look at Ahsoka drops, but rest assured we'll be sharing it on SFFGazette.com the second it's released!
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.
