Some very interesting new details on one of Lucasfilm's upcoming Star Wars shows, The Acolyte, have come to light.

The first footage from the show debuted during Star Wars Celebration London back in April, and while the teaser wasn't officially released, a leaked version of the promo did the rounds online back in October.

The video was quickly removed, but detailed descriptions followed, and there was some confusion about certain characters and the parts they appeared to play in the story, with some actors seemingly playing different roles than earlier reports had indicated.

Now, we may know why.

Though there are no major reveals here, beware of potential spoilers.

Scooper Daniel Richtman has shared some new info on the series, and he claims that both Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto will play two different characters.

It's said that Stenberg will play Force-sensitive twins, both of Sith origin. One will remain with the Sith, while the other will be taken by and trained by the Jedi. The plot is then said to follow the "evil sister" as she becomes a Sith Assassin, who is tasked with taking out Carrie Anne Moss' character, a Jedi Master.

Because this formidable warrior is known to defeat her enemies without using her Lightsaber, the assassin vows to learn martial arts and kill Moss' character using her hand-to-hand skill without the use of her laser sword.

We don't have as many details on Jacinto's characters, but Richtman says he will play "both versions of his own character. One good personality, one bad."

Showrunner Leslye Headland has previously stated that The Acolyte will dedicate a lot of screen-time to "the antagonists," and star Dafne Keen later let slip that the series will actually focus on The Sith "infiltrating" the Jedi.

“No, I mean, as you know, it’s set 100 years before the prequel movies, and it’s kind of an explanation of how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi. It’s a Sith-led story, which has never been done before. It’s been really fun to film – the cast is amazing, and the director and crew are just lovely. The whole experience is wonderful, and I’m already excited for people to see it.”

The series is described as, "a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated."

No premiere date has been announced, but the show is expected to launch on Disney+ at some point next year.

Too many Star Wars shows.

They’re gonna drown us in them and run it into the ground just like MCU D+ shows.

@DocSpock -

MCU shows D+

That's how most should be rated.

Story of the Good & Evil Force Twins already exists in the Star Wars EU aka Jaina and Jacen Solo.

So Disney Star Wars is basically just ripping off the Expanded Universe? Copying their stories and just changing character’s names and calling it “new”? Smh.

No one is watching this. This will kill it for good this time.

This sith DIDN'T infiltrate the jedi in any of the movies.

@dagenspear - eh that's debatable I would kinda call Palestine twisting Anakin up an infiltration
FireandBlood

@dagenspear - Someone wasn’t paying no attention

FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 12/28/2023, 4:32 AM
@JollyR - And Dooku
dagenspear
dagenspear - 12/28/2023, 4:44 AM
@FireandBlood - That person was you. None of that is infiltration like that. They were jedi first and turned from an outside source not from within the jedi as far as any of the movies developed and even shows since then.

According to google:

in·fil·tra·tion

noun

1. the action of entering or gaining access to an organization or place surreptitiously, especially in order to acquire secret information or cause damage.

Palpatine didn't enter or personally gain access to the jedi. If you could say it at all, it was through others who already had access. He didn't gain it, just used people who already had it and had them do stuff for him. Even then, it wasn't through sith who had infiltrated the jedi as far as any of the movies developed.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 12/28/2023, 4:45 AM
@JollyR - I think that's more Palpatine using people who already have access, not so much personal infiltration and certainly not how this synopsis suggests.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 12/28/2023, 5:14 AM
@dagenspear - You don’t need to personally enter something to infiltrate it, you just need to gain access, which he does through others. It’s right there in the definition you posted. And why post the definition just to try twist it to fit your narrative a second later? 😂
dagenspear
dagenspear - 12/28/2023, 6:58 AM
@FireandBlood - Because the first definition is the way this synopsis looks to be defining it. The sith didn't infiltrate it in that way, which was my immediate point.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 12/28/2023, 7:01 AM
@dagenspear - But they infiltrated all the same, and it’s unclear how or what they was doing before they decided infiltrating the senate directly was the way to go. But it’s not hard to believe at all that their first plan of action was to infiltrate the Jedi Order personally before resorting to infiltration by influence.

relentless1 - 12/28/2023, 7:56 AM
@dagenspear - Dooku still infiltrated AFTER he aligned with Sidious, he erased Kamino from the archives, this is seen in Tales of the Jedi
dagenspear
dagenspear - 12/28/2023, 4:30 PM
@relentless1 - That's not infiltrating like that. He was already involved in the jedi. That's also not what the synopsis here is describes.

I mean I'd be happy to see any direction that doesn't have ties to the skywalkers or the whole timeline honestly. But Disney has just killed any faith I had when it comes to Star wars. Or marvel for that matter. So we'll see i guess.

What's the problem with moving forward in Star Wars like they did with the "force Awakens"?

Why are they hell bent on giving us prequel garbage instead brand new stories with new characters.

What will we call this? The Prequels prequel? The Preprequel? The Preeeeequel?
