A leaked version of this did the rounds online earlier today, but Lucasfilm has now officially released the brand new trailer for upcoming The Clone Wars spinoff, The Bad Batch.

This new animated adventure follows the ragtag team of "experimental" clones first introduced in the final season of The Clone Wars, as they make their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

The teaser features a few surprises, including the return of Grand Moff Tarkin, fan-favorite clone Captain Rex, and our first look at a couple of mysterious new characters. We also see The Mandalorian's Fennec Shand make her animated debut, and what appears to be a younger take on Saw Gerrera.

Check out the trailer below along with an awesome new poster, and let us know what you think.

Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Brad Rau, and Jennifer Corbett are executive producing the show, with Corbett also serving writer. The Bad Batch is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 4, with new episodes dropping every Friday.

Looking good. I still need to carve out time to watch Clone Wars. It seems like I say that about every 6months or so.

This looks cool, the bad batch was definitely one of the best parts of the clone wars series, they deserve this spinoff.

Who’s the kid. I can’t tell if it’s a boy or a girl?

The kids face reminds me a bit of the young clone designs, only I think it’s a girl? Could it be a female clone, hence why they go with Bad Batch?

Excited to learn more Fennec, get more on Saw becoming an extremist, and of course the return of Rex

This animations really looks pretty good.

I don't have a lot of expectations of where the story will go, but I'm still looking forward to this a lot. It looks like a fun ride.

Glad we're getting more Clone Wars stories.

Maybe it's just me but I find it very difficult to get into non-movie/Clone Wars stuff. Even when I start a series from the beginning, it feels like things constantly go over my head. The Mandalorian is the rare exception, but everything else feels like it was designed for people who were already super-invested in this universe and nobody else.

@generictheeric - you really do need to watch Clone Wars and Rebels in completion to fully understand whats going. Im now less invested in the movies after the sequel trilogy disappointed me so much. After watching Clone Wars, you'll have a better appreciation for the prequels, as it really fleshed them out much more.

Looks cool but it basically feels like The Mandalorian with them protecting a child and on the run. 🤷‍♂️

Oh boy, here we go theorizing again...

That girl is definitely one of if not the last clone ever produced, and wouldn't you know it she's also a bad batch, because she's female.

For whatever as of yet unspecified reason, the cloning is stopped and the Empire starts recruitig regular Stormtrooper and Tarkin wants to slowly phase out the Clones starting with hunting down every oh so small irregularity: Mutated, defected or rogue clones.
-> That's where Rex comes in.

Also I saw already that people said Crosshair would stay with the Empire and start hunting the rest of them down, which could be interesting (we don't know the realtion of this team that well, that I could make a definitive claim that he would do such a thing) but I'd say it works both ways; either he "betrays"his team/his brothers or a thing I always enjoy: ELABORATE DOUBLE BLUFF!

Crosshair pretends to stay with the Empire and for the entire first season it seems like he's turned into the main antagonist only for him to pull the rug away under our feet and reveal himself to be STILL a good guy.

GOD I'M EXCITED FOR THIS !!!!
