Star Wars didn't have a huge presence at San Diego Comic-Con this month and while a
sneak peek of The Mandalorian will be shown during the Disney+ panel at D23 Expo in August, executive producer/writer Jon Favreau has shared a brief status update on the progress of the upcoming series.
Favreau announced that scoring on the first season of the live-action
Star Wars series has begun. The announcement was accompanied by an impressive doodle by Dave Filoni, who directed the first episode of the series (and has also worked on
Star Wars: The Clone Wars and
Star Wars Rebels).
Favreau
previously confirmed that IG-88 will be making an appearance in The Mandalorian. The character was shown briefly in
The Empire Strikes Back alongside fellow bounty hunters Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM. It's unclear how large of a role he'll have in the series.
The Mandalorian was officially unveiled to fans at Star Wars Celebration Chicago but the footage was never formally released to fans online. Although a sneak peek of the show will be shared at D23, it's unknown if that footage will be released outside of the panel. But with
The Mandalorian set to premiere in November with the launch of the Disney+ streaming service, we should get some sort of official trailer soon.
