THE MANDALORIAN: Next Week's Episode Gets A Welcomed Longer Runtime Than "The Foundling"

It's fair to say we were all a little disappointed when this Wednesday's episode of The Mandalorian clocked in at less than 30 minutes, but Chapter 21 looks to be a return to form for the Disney+ series.

The Mandalorian is a phenomenal Star Wars TV series, so it's really no wonder that fans are often left eager for more.

Last week, we got the longest episode to date...and perhaps the least amount of screentime for Din Djarin and Grogu yet. Instead, the focus was put on Doctor Pershing, the cloner who was tasked with experimenting on Grogu in an effort to more than likely create the being we know as Supreme Leader Snoke from the sequel trilogy.

On Wednesday, "The Foundling" told two stories, with the spotlight on both a rescue mission and what happened to Grogu on the night of Order 66. However, before the credits, that was barely more than 25 minutes long!

Now, we have news on next Wednesday's Chapter 21 (via SFFGazette.com), with a reliable source confirming it will have a runtime of 41 minutes and 3 seconds.

That puts it around the average length of most episodes of The Mandalorian, news we're sure many of you will welcome.

We've now reached the halfway point of this third season and fans remain eager to see where this story is heading. There's still no sign of Moff Gideon and, as fun as it's been to spend time with Din Djarin's fellow Mandalorians (Bo-Katan Kryze has been an undeniable highlight this year), it would be good to know what the overarching plan is.

Jon Favreau recently confirmed that he has no end in sight for the Disney+ series, so we may need to strap ourselves in for a slow-burn approach to this exploration of the post-Return of the Jedi Galaxy.

I just hope Mando himself starts being cool again. He’s been unimpressive this season so far. Bo Katan has been the best character this season. I’d hate to see Mando get Boba Fetted’d.

@mountainman - he been unimpressive for awhile, he was as great in s1. That being said I'm kinda fine with it. The show is called Mandalorian so I be fine with a ensemble.

@Taonrey - No problem with an ensemble and I look forward to seeing how the factions unite. I just want Din to be cool again.

@mountainman - they're too focused on the dad part of his character. It's kinda annoying which is why I wish Grogu stayed with Luke

@Taonrey - It would have been more impactful had Grogu been gone for longer. Season 2 ended on such a high note and it seems like it’s gone downhill since. Hopefully the second half of this season is better than the first half was.

Usually the longer episodes tend to sort out the over arching narrative. If thrawn is indeed in play here, I assume this is where we start to get introduced to him. I don't think we get an actual appearance yet, but a nod most definitely.

@HydraB0b - he probably won't show up until the Ashoka finale

@HydraB0b - I think if they do reveal him as a tease for Ahsoka it would be a finale like the Mando finale or credits scene.

@Taonrey - pretty sure he’s the villain of the Ahsoka series.

This season has been dragging out a very boring plot. With 4 episodes left, not sure if it can recover. But of course Lucasfilm will do a cameo with one of George Lucas' creations, probably Windu, then for a short time it will be the greatest thing ever, again.

It does seem like the series concept is already worn out.

Damn, didn't realize this season was already halfway over. Yeah, I'll echo (*insert "Echo, reporting for duty" gif, lol) what other people are saying about this season dragging on. The first episode was filler, and while the 3rd episode was interesting, it really took away screentime. Only the 2nd and 4th episodes have been really good, and this season overall has certainly been weaker than the prior two seasons.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I don't know how they don't have a endgame because they're already running out of steam. Bo is the only interesting part about this season. Grogu should have stayed with Luke because he makes Mando less interesting

Outside of the monsters this season has been kinda meh so far. Hope things pick up.

I’d say add more aliens to these shows but unfortunately whenever they have an alien speak it feels like sesame street

This weeks episode was fun, last weeks put me to sleep. Plus it was weird seeing an imperial scientist that’s specializes in cloning not clone his eyes or use some kind of bacta eye drops to have perfect vision. Glasses look so weird on someone in Star Wars, heck even Lucas didn’t want characters wearing glasses in Star Wars so of course Disney had to change that too. 🤷‍♂️
