THE MANDALORIAN Picks Up Golden Globe Nomination For Best Drama Television Series

The Golden Globes nominations were just announced, and while the categories were unsurprisingly short on CBM-related content, Disney+'s The Mandalorian did pick up a nom for Best Drama Television Series.

In a somewhat surprising turn of events, The Mandalorian has picked up a Golden Globe nomination in one of the major categories.

Nominations for the 78th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning, and the first ever live-action Star Wars show was nominated for Best Drama Television Series along with The Crown, Lovecraft Country, Ozark, and Ratched.

The Crown is most likely taking this one, but it's nice to see some recognition for both The Mandalorian and Lovecraft Country here.

Other notable nominations include Alexandre Desplat (The Midnight Sky) and Ludwig Göransson (Tenet) for Best Original Score, Motion Picture, and a posthumous Best Actor nom for Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman for his brilliant final performance in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

You can check out a full list of nominations below. This year's Golden Globes ceremony will take place on February 28, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting.

Ratched...are YOU SERIOUS???

Show was absolute garbage!

@BlackBeltJones - That show sounds like the most blatant misreading of the source material I've ever seen from an adaptation. Like, Ratched represents the dangers of bureaucracy and now she's some "girl powrrr" misunderstood anti-hero? In a horror show despite the book/movie being set in a realistic setting? GTFOH
Dredd97

@tmp3 - what a complete shitshow. Imagine watching One Flew Over after watching Ratched and being like, wait, what?
GhostDog

@tmp3 - my roommate and I checked out after 2 episodes. Its a spit in the face to the source material.

"Ratched represents the dangers of bureaucracy and now she's some "girl powrrr" misunderstood anti-hero?"

EXACTLY! This.

tmp3 - 2/3/2021, 7:10 AM
@Dredd97 - Season 4 is gonna be a re-telling of the book but entirely from Ratched's perspective according to Murphy. So he literally thinks he can do better than one of the most lauded books of all time. The hack behind Hollywood. lmfao.

@BlackBeltJones - I have to assume he just read some sparknotes and looked at some google images and thought "wow! I can totally re-tell this as some feminist empowerment anthem! And she looks pretty butch, so lets make her closeted too! That's why she's so resentful!" I feel like if this was his AP English paper he'd score an F, lmao

Also, I'm like 90% sure that when they get to season 4 (sigh) they'll just sideline Chief, despite him being the POV of the book lol

@tmp3 - Ratched was done by Ryan Murphy?

Well now that explains everything.
tmp3
tmp3 - 2/3/2021, 7:18 AM
@Kumkani - I wonder what he'll do next
1984 but Big Brother was misunderstood this whole time
Catcher in the Rye but told entirely from the perspective of the teacher who tried to fondle Holden at the start
To Kill a Mockingbird was Atticus was a secret member of the KKK this whole time
A lot of great literature to mine through, misunderstand and then get awards recognition for by applying the same AHS filter over it!

Better Call Saul not being nominated for best drama makes this thing lose ALL CREDIBILTY. Its better than every show up there.

Well deserved.

OT: I’m loving how WandaVision has went from a mediocre score of 7.4 on IMDb, and is slowly climbing to 8.0 - I predict the show will finish with a 8.6 rating.

Not surprised The Mandalorian got nominated ever since it did at the Emmy's. Congrats to it though. The hell is Ratched getting nominations for though?

Emma Corrin is for sure carrying that award home. Best performance out of everyone there in my opinion. Congratulations to the late Chadwick Boseman. This definitely allows him to get that Oscar nomination but I'm disappointed Delroy Lindo didn't get anything for Da 5 Bloods.

@Kumkani - It's disappointing that Da 5 Bloods didn't get any nominations, but it is the globes. I always expect disappointment. I was fully expecting Chadwick to get a double nomination for Best Actor and Supporting Actor, with the supporting being for Da 5 Bloods.

Dredd97 - 2/3/2021, 7:04 AM
Better Call Saul is way better than any of this shit nominated. Especially Ratched. What sucks is Bob Odenkirk keeps pouring his heart out into that show, and no one gives him that. I love Pacino, but Hunters really fell off at the end for me
