In this Wednesday's episode of The Mandalorian, we saw Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze decide against telling Din Djarin that she had seen a Mythosaur beneath the Mines of Mandalore when she dived in to save him.
Many fans have questioned why she would keep that information to herself, with plenty wondering if Bo-Katan could be plotting to betray her newfound ally, taking the Darksaber, and once again ruling over her home. Talking to Entertainment Weekly (via SFFGazette.com), Sackhoff shared a very different interpretation of that moment.
"She doesn't trust necessarily what she saw. She might have thought that she imagined it," the actress explains. "[There are] so many things that she's trying to process in her head that I don't necessarily think that it's something that she wants to tell anyone about right now."
Sackhoff would go on to say that she thinks Bo-Katan's aspirations to rule are also behind her. "I truly believe at this point that she hopes someone else steps up. She doesn't want the responsibility. The responsibility cost her everything. Leading didn't work, so maybe fitting in will."
That last part is, of course, a reference to the fact the character has seemingly joined the Watch. After diving into the Living Waters of Mandalore, she never got a chance to remove her helmet, earning the warrior a place in The Armorer's tribe. While Bo-Katan has previously scoffed at their traditions, it seems we may have witnessed a change of heart in "The Convert."
"She truly is alone and has nowhere to go," Sackhoff notes. "To be immediately accepted by people is new for her. She may or may not be trying to figure out if that's a place where she should potentially stay."
We're definitely intrigued to see where Bo-Katan's story goes in the coming weeks and The Mandalorian season 3 is shaping up to be just as much her story as it is Din and Grogu's.
What do you hope to see next for Bo-Katan Kryze?
