THE MANDALORIAN's A-List Guest Stars Comment On Their Cameos In Wednesday's Divisive Effort

This Wednesday's episode of The Mandalorian featured some huge cameo appearances, and while that wasn't to everyone's liking, we have more comments from the A-Listers who lent their talents to this Galaxy.

In this week's episode of The Mandalorian, we paid a visit to an Outer Rim planet called Plazir-15 where we met its rulers...The Super Mario Bros. Movie star Jack Black (Captain Bombardier) and Grammy winner Lizzo (The Duchess).

The former has already shared his thoughts on joining the Star Wars franchise, and Lizzo has now weighed in with a couple of brief social media posts.

After Tweeting out a photo of herself surrounded by Grogu merchandise (the singer and actress is clearly a huge fan), she responded positively when a follower suggested he become a permanent addition to this Galaxy. Later, Lizzo followed that with even more behind-the-scenes photos.

Prior to The Mandalorian's season 3 launch, there were rumours we might see Back to the Future icon Christopher Lloyd make an appearance.

As it happens, he did indeed show up in "Guns For Hire" as the villainous Commissioner Hellgate. A Separatist loyalist who believed in Count Dooku's ideals, he was banished from Plazir-15 after using the planet's droids for his own nefarious means.

In a recent Instagram Story, Lloyd wrote: "Great Scott! Found myself in a whole new universe. Watch now..."

Overall, this was another solid instalment of The Mandalorian, albeit one that didn't move the story along quite as much as some will have been hoping. It did feature a fun mystery, a huge status quo change for the Darksaber, and these massive cameo appearances...which, if we're being honest, were perhaps a little distracting.

With only two episodes left, here's hoping the pace picks up a little as season 3 has definitely been a tad directionless.

What did you think about The Mandalorian's latest episode?

I like Lizzo, but yeah that episode was awful

This season is essentially playing out like Clone Wars, little self contained episodes - some of which work, some that don't.

Overall, bad season!

It was divisive? Sounds like there are some people that need an urgent trip to the proctologist.

Christopher Lloyd was fine. Jack Black was ok, but felt really out of place. But whoever decided to put Lizzo in there, a person with no acting experience at all, needs to be fired. Sad to see how far this show has fallen.

Season 3 has been pretty bad, and Lizzo and Jack Black was absolutely the "jump-the-shark" moment for The Mandolorian.

It's every bit as bad as the horrible racist and election denier Stacey Abrams being in Star Trek.

@HistoryofMatt - I mean she had to win an election somewhere so it makes sense for it to be in a fictional universe.

Lmao… is it supposed to be ironic that you’re posting that gif or something?

You losers have no self-awareness. 😂

It wasn't a bad episode, probably an average one. It paled in comparison to the previous two, especially the previous one (the best of the season so far). The droid stuff in this week's episode was fine, it was actually pretty cool to see all those in live action. But the "social" aspect of that episode, specifically with Jack Black and Lizzo, was bad and distracting. The Mandalorian stuff was fine, but this really did feel like one huge filler episode.

This season is definitely the weakest live action D+ Star Wars season so far.

@HeavyMetal4Life - yeah if they focused more on the mystery of the droids then this episode would have been more well received as that is where the best parts are. Mando and Bo being detectives. But most was focused on jack black and lizzo and the mystery of the droids lasted all but 2 minutes really

All the cameos took me out of the episode. Felt like an SNL skit or a Doritos commercial

Suspension of disbelief.

That's what these shows and films rely on. I'm supposed to believe I'm watching the events take place a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

When I see current day pop artists, and Jack Black doing a terrible accent, and Lizzo acting like she's in a school play, I tend to get very distracted.

Doesn't mean celebs can't cameo, but damn. This episode was very odd. Also the writing was terrible, and the green screen was awful. I'm trying my best to still love Star Wars. Disney is doing its best to ensure I don't. Or at least it seems that way. Hopefully the next episode is good and Mando isn't reduced to a bumbling damsel in distress spewing awkward, stiff dialogue

@DarthOmega - Celebs can cameo if done well. Most people thought Bill Burr’s Mayfield was done well in season 2. But guy knows how to act and they actually gave him an interesting role and story.

@mountainman - Mayfield totally worked because it didn't seem like a glorified celebrity cameos from the flavor of the month. Bill can act, so it fit. Jack Black is Jack Black, it's hard to buy him as... Whatever the hell that role was, and Lizzo? That was too distracting.

@DarthOmega - Well and he wasn’t just playing Bill Burr. Had he been yelling and talking smack and laying down jokes, then yeah it would have felt weird. Jack Black just played himself here and it was quite obvious the last time Lizzo acted was in her high school drama club. Christopher Lloyd was fine because he’s a good actor and actually fit his role.

LMFAO THEY ARE MAKING THE LUKE SKYWALKER SEQUEL TO RETURN OF THE JEDI BUT WITH REY PALPATINE INSTEAD.

The travesty is officially complete. Hilarious that all these movies get announced and yet Rian Johnson's supposed trilogy is no where to be found.

I feel bad for Hamill.. this shoulda been his film. His story. His Jedi Academy. He shoulda been a real jedi Master.

Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm will continue to make the same mistakes, they will continue to ignore their audience (see Solos box office after TLJ) and ultimately creators will continue to walk away from future projects. This is the Way......for better or worse. Definitely worse. At least we have the George Canon and nothing these hacks do to the IP really matters. The serious damage to the franchise has already been done with the ST. Anytime its talked about online, in fan forums, anywhere really, its met with adequate dismay. Disney Canon is such a far cry from the original 6 films and the actual Canon so fans can just pick and choose what to watch and what not to. I'll be voting with my wallet.

Anyone saying otherwise is blinded by nostalgia pretty much

This season is a flop although i'm looking forward to the remaining two eps.

We all know shit will go down and the next one is even co-written by Filoni, nuff said.
