This week's episode of Bates Motel has a lot of plot and character development. The cop finds out about the girl from the boat, it is revealed that Norman actually killed his father and he cannot remember it, and finally, the cop is killed. The character development is mainly for Norman.

So in this episode the cop finds out that they know about the girl from the boat. He holds Norma, Norman, and Dylan hostage in the house. However, Norman attacks him when he begins to beat Norma. Norman is shot and Norma drags him outside. Then there is a very long chase through the house where Dylan and the cop shoot at each other. The girl from the boat runs away, and Dylan manages to kill the cop.

So Norman's character is developed very much in this episode. It is revealed that he killed his father while the father was beating Norma. Norman blacks out and cannot remember it so Norma makes the death look like an accident. In this episode, while the cop is beating Norma, you can see Norman go into some sort of trance. He then violently attacks the cop. In the flashback it shows that this very same thing happened to Norman when he witnessed his father beating his mother.

This character development shows that Norman was insane from the beginning and it leads me to believe that it wasn't Norma who turned him all psycho. In this episode Norma make some very sane decisions, which makes me curious as to where they are going with the characters. In the original film series it is shown that Norma was very much insane and very abusive. The viewer is able to understand how Norman got so crazy. In the show the fact that Norma seems to be more sane than Norman leads me to wonder "how did Norman get this way in this continuity?"

So all in all, some very good plot and character developments this week. In my opinion, the past couple of weeks have been kind of slow, but this episode changes that. This was a fantastic episode that had lots of great twists and turns. And just like the first episode, there is a moment in this episode that leads me thinking "wait, they just put that on television?!"

Episode six of Bates Motel is a great, interesting episode and it leaves me wanting to see the next episode. What did you guys think of this episode of Bates Motel? Sound off below and let me know!
