THE CW Renews THE FLASH And 7 More Shows But BATWOMAN And LEGENDS OF TOMORROW's Fates Are Unclear

There's good news for The Flash and Superman & Lois today as both shows have scored early renewals at The CW, but the futures of both Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow aren't currently quite so clear...

Deadline reports that The CW has handed down early renewals to a number of its scripted TV shows. All American, Kung Fu, Nancy Drew, Riverdale, and Walker are among them, but the two we're sure most of you will be most interested in are The Flash and Superman & Lois

While it's commonplace for the network to hand out early renewals as soon as January, things are a little different this year because The CW is expected to get a new majority owner. That's likely to give them a say in renewal decisions, and some shows are currently on the bubble.

While The Flash will return for season 9 and Superman & Lois is getting a third year on the network, the trade notes that there are "question marks" surrounding the futures of Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman, which recently wrapped up their seventh and third seasons, respectively.

The former just concluded with a big Booster Gold tease, though Batwoman has become extremely divisive among fans since attempting to reinvent villains like The Joker and Poison Ivy. As for Stargirl, that show's third season has yet to premiere, so it's too soon for news on a fourth.

The key word here for these renewals is "early," so there's really no need to worry too much about Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman just yet. However, the fact that The Flash and Superman & Lois' futures have already been confirmed prove those shows are bigger priorities for the network.

While none of the Arrowverse properties are the ratings draw they once were, they remain a key part of The CW's programming schedule and perform well on streaming after airing weekly.

No surprise with Superman and Lois. Just a little surprised with The Flash. I thought some of the actors were ready to move on. If Batwoman is not picked up, don't think anyone will be put out. As I have said many times before, a C- show at best although there was definitey potential to be better. Legends is really the only big question mark.

Idk I feel like the whole energy with Superman & Lois has really separated itself from the rest of the cw DC shows. I think it’s a lot better too. I feel like bringing anyone from there brings the show down some imo

@Tpo81 - Yet last night's episode began with another evidence they're in the same continuity with the opening scene of Natalie barely making it out of the anti matter wave's reach when she tried to follow after her dad.

@NinnesMBC - I’m talking quality of content. Superman & Lois is a good show where as Flash & company are not. I just feel like with the way they rewrote reality in S & L at least to me felt like they were stepping away from that shared reality too. But obviously it wouldn’t surprise me if they started doing crossovers again but I hope they don’t

Mongul and Imperiex for the third season of Superman and Lois.

@Repian - I would love that but I hope it’s not just regular looking dudes playing them. I know a CW budget probably isn’t ideal to get a decent looking cgi Mingus or Imperiex but they’ve spent money on the show before, the first episode they did was movie quality effects almost

Great news about Superman and Lois.
Flash however needs to end imo. The show has been going back and forth between bad, worse, boring and terrible the last seven years.
I think Batwoman was ok for the most part but it certainly didn't get better when they replaced Kate with a completely new and utterly boring character.
I would be sad if Legends ended now. At least give it a few episodes to end the show probably. Yeah the show is very cheesy but at least it knows what it is and has fun with it.

I havent watched Flash since the season Barry and Iris had their kid from the future. I want to catch up though. But I did the same with Arrow. Stopped watching when Oliver formed a team and never caught back up.

Unsurprising news about Superman and Lois, that is a terrific show.

The rest of the CW Arrowverse shows need to end.

Weird for The Flash, and I was expecting Superman going to HBO Max, I've seen a significant increase in its budget in recent episodes, the Superman vs Bizarro fight looked like movie.

Anyway, dont care about the Flash, happy for Superman & Lois.

Very to see that those two were renewed.

This means that now Eric Wallace will go to write for a Season 8 finale instead of that potentially series finale scenario he spoke of last week. It also means he can put a cliffhanger/tease at the end like it usually is at the end of each Season.

Hoping that Legends and Batwoman's status in the bubble means they will return too, especially with Booster Gold's introduction. Despite not being included in that short list it doesn't necessarily mean they wont be renewed but that they were not ready to make an announcement on them at this time.

As it being the 10th year of the Arrowverse I'd wish we could keep going and make it special with an actual crossover this time since Armageddon came out well and it appears the requirements to do them like it used to be before are now better.

Last but not in the least at all I am also counting for a Season 4th renewal for Stargirl soon.

Superman And Lois is the only one worth watching, the others just suck.
