ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL Actress Jennifer Connelly Joins The Cast Of Scott Derrickson's SNOWPIERCER Pilot

TNT and Scott Derrickson's Snowpiercer pilot is picking up steam, as Deadline reports that Jennifer Connelly (Hulk, The House of Sand and Fog, Alita: Battle Angel) has joined the cast as the female lead.

According to the trade, Connelly will play a character named Melanie Cavill, a First Class passenger who works as the Voice of the Train. Though many in her VIP position are dismissive of the lower class passengers, Melanie is curiously fascinated by them.

Hamilton star Daveed Diggs has also been cast as Layton Well, a prisoner who becomes a reluctant participant in a struggle that could upend life on the train.

Snowpiercer is based on Bong Joon-ho's superb film of the same name, though this appears to be more of a retelling than a spinoff. The show is executive-produced by Derrickson, writer-showrunner Josh Friedman, and the original film’s Bong Joon Ho, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi.
