Early tracking predicted that Venom would have a strong opening weekend, but when the reviews hit many wondered if the negative reactions would have any impact on the movie's takings.

VENOM SPOILERS: A Countdown Of All The Batshit Crazy Things That Happen In The Movie

Well, they haven't... at least, not yet.

Sony's unofficial Spider-Man spin-off took in over $32 million on Friday, putting it on track to amass a record-smashing $75 - $80 million over the course of its first weekend in theaters.

As impressive as this is, keep in mind that a second week drop-off is always a possibility - especially if bad word-of-mouth plays a factor. That said, fans definitely seem to be enjoying Venom more than the critics did so there's every chance that it'll continue going strong for a while longer.

Tell us, have you been to see Venom? If so, what did you think? You can check out my 3-star review HERE.

I am actually hearing good things about the movie. Granted no one is saying it is a masterpiece but the consensus is the movie is fun.

@SirDuckAlot - That is the price for having Spidey in the MCU. Sony is going to ride the success of the MCU as long as they can.
