Now that we're just under a month out from the release of Venom, expect Sony to begin ramping up the marketing campaign by showcasing quite a lot of footage that we haven't seen in the previous trailers or TV spots.

That can often mean that we end up seeing a bit too much, but that's not that case with this latest spot which mainly focuses on Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) sans symbiote.

In addition, a pretty awesome new theater standee featuring Venom in all his glory has been spotted in the wild.

Check out both below and let us know what you think. Will you be seeing Venom opening day?

Wow, the first thing I've loved out of this movie is that standee

That aside, Tom Hardy's accent is just odd and borderline annoying. What should clearly sound like "I have been taken" sounds like "I have been teaking"

Fingers crossed

I say this as someone who actually doesn't really like Tom Hardy all that much at all: I like his weird voice affectation. It's weird, but... it's kinda interesting.

Everything else looks like it's probably going to be balls, but for this one thing, it's like Hardy said "I need to kick this up a notch to add some flavor".

(Also, that Tony Todd Venom voice still cracks me up, man. I can't take it seriously at all.)

@Spock0Clock - I'm not american so I'm not sure exactly what accent he is attempting exactly (and if it good) but I enjoy it.

@StormXmen123 - Tom Hardly is no American either. It seems he isn't sure what accent he's attempting either. Brock sounds like drunk Christopher Walken, and his Venom could sing for Megadeth. After his goofy Bane voice and now this sh*t, I wonder if he actually thinks all Americans have these silly cartoon voices?

@Spock0Clock - Have you watched "The Drop" with Hardy and James Gandolfini? Hardy uses the same Brooklyn accent in that film as in Venom, which makes sense assuming Eddie Brock is a Bugle reporter (from the NYC area) on assignment in what appears to be SFO.

“They cawl it a drawp bahr — you just hide the entyah city’s dirty munny in plain sight,”

@GeneralZod - If Tom Hardy is in it, I probably haven't seen it (unless Nolan directed it or it was a Star Track).

@Spock0Clock - Tom Hardy is the lead character in that film. It's a terrific film. One of James Gandolfini's last films, and he is terrific in it also.

Hardy's accent is just really weird. Sounds very inconsistent.

I'll watch it (and take my Nan!)
Certainly looks like a lot of work has gone into this film but I wonder if they've spent enough on the CGI effects, for example:

Films like this and predator have had better tv spots then trailers. Maybe they should reconsider not doing full commercials.

@Benjamitesandwich - you aren't the first person to say so!

I think that's what is putting a lot of people off about it, at least on this site.

My prediction!

Opening Weekend will do about $45M-$50M Domestically then dropping 70% the next weekend due to "Word Of Mouth" being: "It wasn't that bad" at best.
