Smash frost giants with Thor’s® Hammer. Unbalance Ultron™ by slinging Captain America’s® shield. Explore a remote and hostile jungle as Storm™.
Leave behind your everyday life and live as a renowned Marvel Super Hero™ including all of his or her abilities. Become powerful, famous, well-respected, feared by evil-doers, and relied upon by the citizens of a grateful, persistent online world.

The First picture of the Marvel Universe MMO have been released, and although is nothing much revealing, but it gives us our first look at how Wolverine will look like on the game:

Gazillion Entertainment is working on the game since 2009 with Brian Michael Bendis, the most important name of the writers team on Marvel, on the story development.

The game will be free and should use the Microtransactions model(in which, normally uniforms and Accessories can be acquired to make the character even better). The players will be able to control the characters of the Marvel Universe - even if somebody else is already using the same character - and can switch the hero at any time. The same team can also have lots of Spider-Men, for example.

The idea is that this universe be a part of the same Marvel universe on the comics, and not an alternative reality. The scenarios are going to be really big, in the "open world" game style.

There is no official announcement for a release date yet, but stay tuned!

That sounds really awesome, and the fact that it's free makes me want to play it even more! I haven't touched an MMO in my life, so hopefully this is the first one I'll try

so will this be character created characters too or will it be Marvel characters only, like a 1000 people as Wolverine, that would be lame. If done right they should have the following types of classes:

Super Soldiers
Tech Users
Gamma Powered
Cosmic
Asgardian
Mystical
Mutants

Pretty cool pic. But it would be even cooler if you could design your own character rather than seeing hundreds of Iron Men and Thors flying around. But that doesn't mean I won't check it out.

Where does he keep those blades when they're not popped? Half-way up his tricep? Gonna be hard to bend them elbows..... Ah screw it, it looks badass anyways.

@AlcoholicA: I've often wondered the same thing with different iterations of Logan. I mean, it must make moving his wrist alone a bitch.

When this was first cancelled back in 2008, it was supposed to be on Xbox 360 and PC. So hopefully its still those two

If it's just on the PC then I won't be getting it. Not much of a PC player. Hoping it'll be on the PS3!

I won't mind if its only for PC. I play DCUO on PC and I use my XBox controller. It works and plays just like a console. But I hope it comes out on XBOX360.

The downfall of this mmo will be forcing players to play only as Marvel characters and not allowing them to create their own. It will be a bunch of Hulks, Spider-Men, Wolverines, Deadpools, Iron-Men, and Thors running around all over the place.

Lame.

You've got the title wrong whatever Marvel says...

This will Marvel Ultimate Alliance Online.

If you want a great Superhero game consider Champions-Online and City of Heroes (Both free-to-play freemium hybrids).

Who can complain if it's free? Don't like it, don't pay for more content.
I agree having a character creator as well as the option to play as established characters would be preferable, though.

@ComicCritic, Those are good classes. Makes more sense than a bunch of Iron Men and Thors running around.
