SAG Awards 2024 Results: Another Big Night For THE LAST OF US And OPPENHEIMER Star Robert Downey Jr.

The SAG Awards took place in Los Angeles yesterday evening, and it was a big night for Oppenheimer and The Last of Us; however, neither Marvel nor Star Wars managed to pick up any wins in their categories.

Yesterday evening in Los Angeles, the SAG Awards took place to honour the best acting performances of the past year across film and television. Unsurprisingly, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer was the big winner on the film side, cementing its status as a frontrunner ahead of the Oscars next month.

Robert Downey Jr. was once again recognised for his work in the "Best Supporting Actor" category, likely meaning the Iron Man star will soon have an Academy Award to add to an ever-growing list of post-MCU accolades.

On the TV side, The Fantastic Four's Pedro Pascal won "Best Actor In A Drama Series" for HBO's The Last of Us, but when he arrived on stage to deliver his acceptance speech, the actor was a little...tipsy!

"This is wrong for so many reasons," Pascal told the audience. "I'm a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk. I’m making a fool of myself but thank you so much for this! I’ve been in the union since 1999 so this is an incredible f*cking honor. To the nominees, all of you, I can’t remember any of your names right now."

The actor got emotional while thanking his family and concluded by saying, "I'm going to have a panic attack and I'm going to leave."

You can check out his full acceptance speech, along with all the SAG Awards winners, below.

I’m glad SAG has stunt awards at the least…

MI winning over JW 4 was surprising but I didn’t mind it either since it was still well deserved imo.

I know the movie had somewhat mixed response on here but I still liked it a lot (though it’s definitely the weakest of the MCQ MI films thus far).

Oppenheimer is winning harder than even the Joker movie. Every award show, multiple nominations and multiple wins.

I love Robert Downey Jr, he’s a great actor.

But if these awards truly went to the best actors, Charles Melton would have been nominated and won.

And for best actor, any of the Co Leads of Society Of The Snow.

Those guys aren’t A-List but damn are they better than most famous actors working in Hollywood right now.

But oh well, money and connections trump everything I guess.
