Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today that they have decided to indefinitely delay the launch of both Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II and Marvel's Iron Man VR due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
In their official statement, Sony said, "Update: SIE has made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel's Iron Man VR until further notice. Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve. Currently, there are no other delays to report, but we'll keep you updated."
Iron Man VR was initially slated to release on May 15th while The Last of Us Part II was set to arrive a few weeks later on May 29th. No new dates were assigned for either title, potentially leaving the door open for a move to 2021.
In addition to the hotly awaited video game sequel, Sony and HBO also recently announced plans for a live-action The Last of Us television series with game creator Neil Druckmann (Uncharted) and Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) writing and executive producing.
