NetherRealm Studios (via GameFragger.com) has unveiled Nitara as the latest playable character in this month's Mortal Kombat 1, and Megan Fox (Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) will be providing the voice and visage for the formidable winged warrior.
Fox was previously linked to the upcoming game along with rapper Travis Scott, but if the latter is involved, his character has yet to be confirmed.
Nitara debuted in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance back in 2002, and has only made a few appearances since. Even so, she has gone on to become one of the more popular supporting characters in the iconic fighting game series.
"She comes from this weird realm, she is a type of vampire creature," Fox explains in the video below. "She's evil but she's also good. She's trying to save her people. I really like her. She's a vampire which obviously resonates for whatever reason. It's cool to be in the game, you know? Because I'm not really just voicing it, it'll be like she's kind of... me."
The featurette includes an interview with Fox, along with some footage of Nitara in action as she dispatches some unfortunate opponents using her signature diving claw and fang attacks. There's also a little nod to one of Fox's previous roles, with Kung Lao asking Nitara (around the 1:28 mark), “What did you do with Jen’s body?”
It's not particularly gruesome, but a couple of fatalities are showcased, so here's your NSFW warning just in case!
