SUICIDE SQUAD: KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE Won't Mark The Late Kevin Conroy's Final Batman Performance

The assumption that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League marked the legendary Kevin Conroy's final voice performance as Batman led to a lot of backlash, but we now know that this is not the case...

Yesterday marked the official launch of Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and it's fair to say that the build-up to and release of the open world co-op action game has not been without its share of controversy.

Mixed-negative reviews aside, leaked story details caused uproar online when it was revealed that Task Force X would be murdering a bunch of iconic DC heroes (though the game's title really should have been a hint), including Batman (you can check out the cut scene in question here).

The backlash mostly seemed to stem not only from the Caped Crusader's death, but the fact that this particular take on the Dark Knight meets his end so unceremoniously in a game that was believed to mark the late Kevin Conroy's final voice performance as the character.

However, it's now come to light that Conroy actually worked on two other projects prior to his tragic passing.

According to IGN, the legendary voice actor has two other posthumous performances coming up in Bruce Timm's Batman: Caped Crusader animated series that's set to stream on Prime Video (Conroy is believed to be voicing Thomas Wayne), and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part Three, which will see him reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman from Batman: The Animated Series.

Whether this news will be enough to appease fans remains to be seen, but knowing Conroy's last ever performance as Batman won't end with his character getting shot point-blank in the head should put an end to at least some of the outcry.

"From the creators of the Batman: Arkham series, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a genre-defying third-person action shooter where the ultimate band of misfits must do the impossible: Kill the Justice League. @nibs - I want to check it out. I'm not emotionally invested in the arkham batman as people put it. They can put a bomb in his chest and explode him across the cosmos for all I care. The game looks fun and colorful so I kind of want to give it a try

But my backlog of games is seriously a mile long. The life of a working dad to a toddler!

@nibs - So you genuinely don't want to play it, got it.

I was really hoping the league were all clones or from alternate dimensions, but NOPE. They really went there.

I love to be a fly on the wall to see all of these "great minds" at work when they write concepts like Kill the JL.

@TheLight - I think it would have been better if they didn’t make it a part of the Arkham Series!

@JonAwesome - I agree. They easily could've made this another elseworld series, but they decided to give the biggest middle finger to the fans by making this.

It's always funny to me when people get so worked up over this sort of thing. How many times has Batman and pretty much every other character been killed off in the comics? They always come back, so why is this one game getting so much backlash?

@MarkCassidy - I don't get it either. Just see it as an else-worlds story. Problem solved.

@MarkCassidy - ...because it's believed to be the last performance of Kevin Conroy?

Also, the arkham series has always taken death seriously. Talia stayed dead, black mask stayed dead, joker stayed dead. Even ra's stayed dead, and coming back from the dead is literally his gimmick.

"And Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part Three, which will see him reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman from Batman: The Animated Series."

What?!?!

Seriously, Ror, dude, you should have led with that.

@ObserverIO - I’m sure there will be six articles now about Kevin Conroys rumored last voice performance will be in crisis part 3.

Also there's Multiversus as well. Why does everyone forget Multiversus? I know it had a beta last year, but the full game doesn't release until this year.
