Sony Pictures debuted a new trailer for Uncharted last week (you can check it out below), and Total Film has now shared a new looks at the video game adaptation's heroic duo via this month's newsstand and subscriber only covers.

Both covers feature Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland as a younger take on the beloved games' protagonist Nathan Drake, along with Mark Wahlberg as his treasure-hunting partner (and soon-to-be mentor) Victor "Sully" Sullivan.

Fans seem to be a bit mixed on everything we've seen from this movie so far, but it does appear to have captured at least some of the adventurous spirit of the games, if not quite enough of their sharp wit.

"Street-smart thief Nathan Drake is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago," reads the latest synopsis. "What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada, who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother...but only if they can learn to work together."

Sony's adaptation will be set before the events of the first game and serve as an origin story for the beloved character, as Drake embarks on his first globe-trotting adventure alongside Sully.

Travis Knight, Dan Trachtenberg, Shawn Levy, Seth Gordon, Neil Burger and David O. Russell were all attached to helm Uncharted at one time or another, before Venom's Ruben Fleischer was finally confirmed as director back in 2020.

Uncharted will also star Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle. The movie is (currently) set to hit theaters on February 18, 2022.

Holland just comes off too young for this role. Hell, even the trailer poked fun at it.

I have no faith in this project. The heart of the games is just absent.

Holland should have played a young Sully instead. We haven't seen that story.

So sad , they totally screwed the pooch on this movies casting. its uncharted in name but Nathan drake is the soul of the franchise , mark wallberg playing the same wisecracker as always and tom Holland playing himself .

How can Sony really let this happen and expect to Make good money from fans of the series and really how difficult is it to find cast that at least look the part.

They have the source material and it feels like they just didn't bother to try and counted on spider-man to carry them to the bank.

I like the cast and the games. I was always an xbox player but I've played these games on my friends play stations and found them enjoyable.

Yes, Tom looks young but he also is a very capable actor and Mark Wahlberg is always fun to watch. This movie looks like it could be fun. I'm alot more excited for something like this over anything like Morbius or whatever Avi Arad touches.
