Stranger Things Season 3 officially arrived on Netflix today and Epic Games is getting in on the sci-fi action with a special crossover event featured in their battle royale game, Fortnite.

Netflix and Epic Games confirmed the Fortnite x Stranger Things crossover event on Twitter, but details have yet to be shared. In the meantime, players have discovered portals popping up in the game similar to the ones that lead to the Upside Down in the show. Right now, the portals don't actually lead to anywhere strange, but instead teleport players to different locations within the Mega Mall (an in-game point of interest that resembles a futuristic shopping mall).

Also located in Mega Mall is the Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Parlor, another nod to the show. In Stranger Things, Scoops Ahoy is located in Starcourt Mall and is where Steve Harrington and Robin work.

No other details or references to Stranger Things have been found or shared yet, but should be coming soon as Season 3 of the show finally arrived on Netlix.

Previous Fortnite collaborations with other big-budget brands — including Marvel for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame — have included exclusive cosmetics and special limited-time game modes. It's possible that when the Stranger Things event does go live, the portals could actually lead players to the Upside Down. Or perhaps Mayor Kline's 4th of July celebration event will become a temporary in-game location. We'll have to wait and see!

Stranger Things Season 3 is now available to stream on Netflix.

Just saw the first episode of S3. So far, so good. As soon as that theme started, it had me like...

Now, Now, Now...If they were smart they would release a game modeled after a 1985 style video game.
