Apparently, the Force flows all manner of ways through us. Here's hoping George Lucas has nothing to do with this! According to recent press releases some updates to the MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic, will feature the ability to have a same-sex relationship with a companion character. I know I put the whole story in the title, but that's one heck of a catch. To this date, Star Wars has managed to remain pretty white-bread with it's principles. Suffice to say, this is a huge revelation that just goes to show what kind of world we live in today. Without condemning or condoning on my end, here's what a conservative parent's group had to say about it...
From the 'Family Research Council':
"In a galaxy not so far far away, Star Wars gamers have already gone to the dark side. The new video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, has added a special feature: gay relationships,” Tony Perkins, president of the council, said in a statement late last week. “Since the announcement, homosexuals have been celebrating the news, but parents sure aren’t.”
Bioware's official position on the subject relies on the mythology of the Star Wars universe itself. According to the online community manager, Sean Dahlberg, the terms "Gay" and "Lesbian" do not exist in the Star Wars universe.

So what do the loyal and avid readers of ComicBookMovie think? Is this a step too far for Bioware and Star Wars, when other popular games like "Mass Effect" are delving into the same territory? Keep in mind that both "Mass Effect" and "The Old Republic" are made by Bioware. Does this mean that Bioware's exclusive position is to promote homosexual relations, or is it a matter of drawing as much players to their games as possible?
Let the smarmy comments fly.
