Batman:Arkham City is set one year after the events of Arkham Asylum. After taking credit for the take down of the Joker, Quincy Sharp has managed to become the new mayor of Gotham City; apparently despite knowing that Sharp was dangerously psychotic from reading his journal in the first game, Batman did nothing to prevent this. Due to the fact that Arkham and Blackgate Prison are both unfit to store prisoners - Arkham undergoing extensive repairs after the Joker's antics, and Blackgate still being repaired from the fire Joker arranged there as part of his scheme - Sharp has the slums of Gotham walled off in order to create a new "prison" for the inmates, nicknamed "Arkham City".

Is that the only pose for Robin there is for this game? All images so far have been him standing, legs apart, both arms down holding a Bo in front of him.
But, so far, we had bald-3d-Robin, crew-cut-3d-Robin, hooded-3d-Robin and now art-concept-hooded-Robin.

Don't get me wrong, poster, it isn't your fault, nor am I picking on your news-piece. But if they want to use Robin to promote this game, they gotta do better than that

@AlReg How would it be Damian? I don't know if they'd want to try to explain why and how Damian could've gotten older. Tim's the perfect choice.

they should adopt this look into the comics if they haven't done so already.

See that? That tells me you don't even read comics.

@PaulRom
You forgot to put in the artists insight on the design. Here it is.

"We wanted to create a Robin that players would identify as a contemporary character and move away from the traditional “Boy Wonder” image that most people know. Our vision of Robin is the one of a troubled young individual that is calm and introverted at times but very dangerous and aggressive if provoked. The shaved head is inspired by cage fighters, because we thought that Robin might be doing that in his spare time to keep him on his toes. Still, we kept all the classic trademarks of Robin’s appearance, such as the red and yellow colors of his outfit, the cape and the mask.
We really hope that people will discover our Robin as one of their new favorite characters in the Batman universe. He is back and he means business." KAN MUTFIC, JULY 2011

I got it from Arkham City's official website's forum.

One of the most difficult things on earth, is to turn f.ucking Robin into a good character! Unless, he becomes f.ucking Nightwing already...

@tophercruz

The personality even the game makers comments are all like Damian more than Tim. It's also not like it would be the first time Robin appeared older in other media than his comics self so I do not see how him being Damian would be a problem.

@itbegins

Well, a little boy running around in tights fighting crime with an old man is a little bit weird in itself, they just chose to take a BTAS route it seems and made robin a bit older to make it more plausible, I don't see anything wrong with that, I see video game and movie interpretations of comics as essentially one-shot comics with new writers and artists giving it a try.

He reminds me a bit of Speedy in Young Justice.

Now if Robin would look like this (with a longer cape) in the Nolan Batman films, it would work
EndOfDays

Han Solo's legs, Luke's cape and hood, and some weird chest piece. That said, I love the idea just needs a lot more polish and original ideas before it's ready for prime time.

I just wish I could play the campaign as Robin/Nightwing.

@ Topher

He reminds people of Damian because Damian is kind of a hardcore Robin who is more apt to cross the line, and this picture definately makes Robin look like that kind of person.

Also, Damian has been wearing a hood as Robin since he took over the mantle. :)
odie00
odie00 - 7/5/2011, 6:02 PM
@corndogburglar- you are right. i was about to say that yeah damian is the only robin who wore a hood. to me it seems like they are combining all the robins into one, and just making it tim drake because of dick grayson already being nightwing. not a huge fan of tim drake really, he definitely isnt the badass robin. but better than jason todds whiney ass

I like it. He actually looks like someone I wouldn't want to mess with, as opposed to a guy who can just secretly beat me to a pulp.
