VIDEO GAMES: The BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS Teasers Were For A New Mr. Freeze DLC

The teasers leading up to the New Year's announcement from the Batman: Arkham Origins camp were for a new DLC focusing on Mr. Freeze, not a new game. At least it's a story DLC and not a challenge map!

No further details on the project were revealed in the announcement other than a 2014 release date. With Batman: Arkham Origins taking place very early in Batman's crime-fighting career, perhaps we will see the origins of Mr. Freeze unfold? Expect more details to follow from Warner Bros. Games Montréal in the coming days.

Batman: Arkham is a series of action-adventure video games based on the DC Comics character Batman developed by Rocksteady Studios. The latest installment, the third in the series, was developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Legendary Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy stated at the 2013 Dallas Comic Con that he had been working on "the next Arkham" video game, leading to rampant speculation that he would reprise his role as Batman in "Arkham Origins" however, Roger Craig Smith voiced a young Batman in the prequel. This meant that Conroy was actually working on an as-yet-announced future installment in the series.

I love hearing Mr Freeze's suit voice, so I'm all for an origin story. His interview tapes were cool too. Bring it on I say.

Arkham Origins was pretty great for a prequel, and more single-player story is always welcome, the way I see it, this game was WBM's chance to prove themselves, while Rocksteady will keep the main series and probably bring the likes of Superman to consoles and WBM will work on spin-offs like the Suicide Squad game they teased, maybe even Green Arrow, one would hope

Don't tease a big new years eve announcement and then just have it be some DLC. You are going to risk disappointing people.

Maybe they can announce they fixed all the bugs. I lost my save file when it became corrupted. I will probably end up returning the game.

@SonofBatman

How is knowing that they are making a new one with Kevin Conroy who confirmed he was doing another one not that long ago being a dumbass? I think your just pushing out your hate on life on others man. Might wanna get a stress ball.

I'm a bit disappointed, but hey at least it's story DLC and not more challenge maps.

@ATrueHero1987

I thought it was fun. Just finished it the other night. It's got the same feel as the other Arkham games. There are a few bugs that are a bit annoying, but any first game will have them. Majority of the story is fantastic. There just a bit in the beginning that I wish they drew out more. The boss battles are interesting. Joker is the full psycho that I remember, and the new VA does a fantastic job! They also had early versions of gadgets he uses in later games which I found cool. I would recommend it hands down if you loved the other two games.

@ATrueHero1987 It's still a good game, but it's definitely not as good as Arkham City. The main problem is the game has all sorts of bugs in it. After the Killer Croc and Deathstroke fights my screen went black and froze up. I had to exit out and do the fights all over again. During the firefly fight, the enemies just stayed in one place, and I could move, but not attack them. I've honestly never played a game with such blatant bugs. The combat controls are a bit awkward in my opinion, I think it's supposed to reflect Bruce being inexperienced at being Batman or something, not that I think that's a good excuse. There is a bigger city in Origins, but it just feels dead. There is no reason that a game that takes place in Gotham City would have enemies all around it, and no civilians. In Arkham City, that made sense because it was a superprision, but even on Christmas Eve night, gotham wouldn't be completely devoid of civilians. The side missions were okay, but a lot of them felt like rehashes of the last game. It's still a decent game worth a play-through, but I'll say the replay value is pretty low. I replayed Arkham City several times over. But once I beat Origin's campaign, I haven't touched the game since. SN: Another annoying feature about Origins is the new game plus mode. You apparently get to keep all of the combat techniques you upgraded to, but you don't get to keep the new gadgets you've unlocked, or the enigma trophies, you got to keep these things in Arkham City's New Game Plus but they changed it for Origins, so it really defeats the purpose of playing through the game again.

@ATrueHero1987 Great game, same gameplay as Arkham City, huge world(tough a little empty), characters like Batman, Joker, Bane, Gordon and Alfred are very well fleshed out, plenty of side-missions, lots of nods to the DC universe, good story and a lot of fun, if you liked Arkham City, you'll probably like this too

I knew it was a long shot but i was hoping for a hero DLC, like Green Arrow or another Justice Leaguer. I think Its too early for the Robins or Batgirl.
