With a budget believe to be just shy of $100 million, Sonic the Hedgehog's current worldwide box office haul of $295 million is more than enough to ensure we get to return to that world.

When we do, we already know that we'll get to spend some time with Tails, but what about this first instalment's human cast? Well, star James Marsden made it clear during a recent interview with Variety that he's definitely interested in returning to the franchise as Tom Wachowski.

"I don't know if I'm supposed to say," he admitted, adding he would star in "as many as they want to make."

"It is such a good group of people and it was so much fun to see Jim enjoying himself again," the actor said, referring to Jim Carrey's standout performance as Dr. Robotnik. "I think this was his second-biggest opening weekend of all of his movies. I was kind of amazed at that statistic. He just had a big smile on his face and he was hugging everyone. It just felt like it was such a cool thing."

Fans are definitely anxious for a Sonic the Hedgehog sequel, and it's honestly surprising that it hasn't officially been announced yet. The movie's box office run isn't over quite yet, though, and it's possible that Paramount Pictures wants to see how Digital, DVD, and Blu-ray sales end up doing.

I just rewatched 30 Rock, and... goddamn do I love him as Criss Chros. He was also good in Dead to Me, but he's just such an appealingly boyish dude. I want him more and more as Corsair every time I think of it. He could totally play an older mid-life crisis space pirate dad and still keep it from getting too heavy when he thinks about having lost his entire family.

Also he's old enough in reality and young enough looking that people could get genuinely thrown off that he's actually the father of a ~25-year-old Scott.

@Vigor - I have my suspicions that Metal Sonic will be the villain in number 2 and then Chaos or Shadow for 3.

There's a lot of potential and material for a good bunch of sonic movies, if they kepp it tight and do it right Sonic can turn into a great cinematic franchise/universe.

Can't express enough how much i loved this movie, great story with a big heart and Jim Carrey at his best, love him as Robotnik. Now for the sequels I really hope we can get to see Metal Sonic and moving up forward to ma boy Shadow.
