Earlier today, we learned that Wonder Woman 1984 will now be released in August instead of June, and that news has now been followed by a cool new motion poster featuring Gal Gadot's Diana Prince. The movie's marketing campaign was only just starting to heat up, of course, so Warner Bros. has plenty of time to put out fresh content like this over the coming months.

Had things played out as planned, we likely would have seen a new trailer for the Wonder Woman sequel in time for Black Widow, but the wait for that is probably going to be a little longer now.

With this poster comes some comments from director Patty Jenkins about the movie's new release date. "We made Wonder Woman 1984 for the big screen and I believe in the power of cinema. In these terrible times, when theater owners are struggling as so many are, we are excited to re-date our film to August 14th 2020 in a theater near you, and pray for better times for all by then."

As of right now, both Warner Bros. and Jenkins are clearly committed to Wonder Woman 1984 first playing on the big screen rather than the small one, and things will hopefully have returned to normal by then.

All these quotes re-affirming how this is going to get a theatrical release, how it was made to be viewed in that format (they shot it partially in IMAX 70mm, so fair game) is so out of the norm for movie delay news, so I gotta assume Jenkins and/or higher-ups at WB got big mad at that streaming report.

@tmp3 - Instinctively movie makers always intend movies to be seen on the big screen but as we're in unprecedented times, studios are scrambling and making decisions in order to not lose money as much money as they can. Some are going straight to digital, some are going digital and then theatrical once they re-open and others are holding off for a traditional theatrical release. Patty is a passionate believer in the cinema experience so I would say she pushed for this.

I just hope the Coronavirus pandemic will be over by then. I'm sick and tired of hearing about all these idiot teens and college students that are partying, then bring the Coronavirus to their parents. Stay home and stop being stupid.

@BlackIceJoe - All those [frick]faces in [frick]face Florida who were partying at the beach, well 5 of them came down positive with coronavirus, and one of them is in intensive care. Also, there's no telling how many people they came in contact with. As long as Florida's governor pitty-pats with this pandemic, we're really not gonna get a handle on this.

You know...after this spring and summer all I need from WW84 is to not be very serious, a bit cheesy and inspiring through love and hope.

@IronGenesis - WW84 going fine as a fun piece of escapism from the trying times we're going through and then BOOM Max Lord neck snap*
*this is a joke, idk if they're actually adapting that

@TheJustinHammer - They're doing businessman Lord, not superhero killer Lord. Pascal's shirt would be a lot tighter if it was that take
