On the heels of the recent Blu-ray cover reveal, DC Entertainment (via IGN) has debuted the action-packed first trailer for Wonder Woman: Bloodlines.

This latest DC animated feature will actually retell Diana's origin story, as the Amazon warrior earns the name Wonder Woman from the people of Earth after she rescues Steve Trevor.

While serving as Earth's ambassador and protector, Diana will encounter a young girl who has fallen in with a deadly organization of bad guys known as Villainy, Inc., which is made up of several of Wonder Woman's most fearsome foes.

Check out the trailer, box art, a leaked image from SDCC and an extended clip down below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) returns to voice Diana for the sixth time. Here, the DC heroine prepares to do battle with the formidable Silver Swan (Marie Avgeropoulos).

Swan won't be the only villain Wondy will have to contend with, however. Other Villainy, Inc. members include Giganta, Cheetah (both voiced by Kimberly Brooks) and Doctor Poison (Courtenay Taylor).

The rest of the voice cast is made up of Jeffrey Donovan as Steve Trevor, Michael Dorn as Ferdinand, Ray Chase (Lead Bandit), Mozhan Marno (Dr. Cyber), Adrienne Moore (Etta Candy), Cree Summer (Hippolyta), Nia Vardalos (Julia Kapatelis), and Constance Zimmer (Veronica Cale).

Extended Clip

Finally, we have an extended clip which looks like it may actually be the movie's opening sequence. Here, Diana rescues Steve Trevor from the ocean when his plane is brought down by what appear to be Parademons.

@BlackBeltJones - Yeah, it looks a lot smoother than how choppy the animation is for the other films

@BlackBeltJones - Stephen Choi had to step in on art direction while Phil Bourassa is busy with Young Justice.

Looks good. I miss Keri Russell as the voice of Diana though.

@Oberlin4Prez - Russell was really good but Dawson has sort of cemented herself as the best Diana. She's consistently done a wonderful job. Although, Russell only got one shot at it. I would like to see her come back.

This looks pretty damn good, though I could go a few years without another origin film. The first animated film was an origin film. The actual movie was an origin film. Now, this one is an origin film, too.

Enough, already.
Let's hit some of those big Wonder Woman stories out there: Gods and Mortals, The Circle, A League of One, Earth One, Challenge of the Gods, hell, tap some of that kinky golden age stuff.

@Reeds2Much -

This was actually an interesting storyline.
After a year in space, she comes home to find Superman dead, Themysicra missing, and her JL checks halted because she was also presumed dead.

Looks quite good, specially the animation style.

With that said that Silver Swan from that cover looks a little like Archangel's form from X-Men: Apocalypse IMO.

DCAU has been doing a good job lately. I liked Hush.

DCEU should take notes from them.
