In the world of costume design, Lindy Hemming is a legend. Her work is arguably unrivalled, something that's evident from what we've seen in the James Bond movies (from Goldeneye to Casino Royale), Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, and both Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984.
With the sequel now available to rent on Premium Video on Demand in the UK, we recently had the opportunity to speak to Lindy about her work on the DC Comics adaptation.
We had to ask whether she's returning as the costume designer for the recently confirmed Wonder Woman 3, and you can find an excerpt from our conversation below (stay tuned for much more).
It’s been confirmed that Wonder Woman 3 is happening; are you returning for the movie, and do you have any ideas what you’d like to do with Diana Prince’s look in the present day?
Who’s told you it’s the present day? [Laughs]
I'm just speculating!
I know you are; I’m used to these interviews! [Laughs] Truly, yes, Patty has asked me, and I have absolutely no idea what the date or anything of it is. Of course, personally, I’d like it to be set in some period somewhere because then I could do that kind of work on it. I don’t think she’s written it yet; I think it’s all in her head, for now. I’d love to do it, and she asked me to, so I probably will!
She has a Star Wars movie [Rogue Squadron] work on too...
Yes, she’s got to write that first and do it, so that’s a minimum of two years ahead, so there’s plenty of time to think about it.
Lindy Hemming's work on both Wonder Woman movies has been phenomenal, and it's impossible to fault what we saw from her collaboration with Nolan on his Batman trilogy. The fact that she's returning for the third chapter in Diana Prince's story is great news, and regardless of what era it takes place in, we have no doubt the Amazon Warrior will continue to look nothing short of amazing.
