Nine Interesting Possibilities That X-MEN APOCALYPSE Opened Up For The X-Men Universe

X-Men Apocalypse was fairly divisive amongst fans, but regardless what your thoughts on it, it definitely opened up a world of possibilities for the future of the X-Universe.

9. Alex Summers, Corsair?

Last we saw Alex Summers in X-Men, he disappeared in the blast of Xavier's mansion. No body was found, although there is a possibility that he was never dead. Bryan Singer has said that he'd like to take the X-Men franchise into space in future installments. What if Alex Summers wasn't engulfed by the flames, but instead zapped into the cosmos becoming his father's title of Corsair? It could very well not happen, but it would be a great way to introduce Corsair in a future X-Men movie along with an emotional moment for Cyclops!

8. A Brotherhood of Mutants

Ten years is a long time to wait, and a long time to get another team together. Following the cataclysmic events of Apocalypse, it could very well be time for Magneto to assemble a group of Mutants leading the way for a new tomorrow. Although perhaps with Apocalypse's ending, it led to a true change of heart and is looking to truly make a difference in the mutant community...

7. Genosha

With Magneto on his way into an uncertain future, perhaps it's time he sets up Genosha? After the world ending events of Apocalypse, rebuilding is necessary. It would be interesting if Magneto creates Genosha, a safe haven for mutants in the new world.

After the world's most powerful mutant caused a cataclysmic event, it wouldn't be surprising to see mutants being persecuted and needing a safe place. Leading to humanity needing to potentially bring back something to keep the mutants in check.

6. The Continuation Of The Sentinels Program

With the near destruction of the world by a mutant, It is no doubt that the human race is going to look to keep the mutants in check.  Especially with the ending of Apocalypse showing some beefed up Sentinels, it does point to the robotic behemoths being in production yet again. One unanswered question is if Trask will return to oversee the production? Will Master Mold be created? Only time will tell.

5. Ages Of Apocalypse

In Apocalypse, it was established that he can change bodies and has throughout thousands of lifetimes. With his death at the fate of the Phoenix force, it could be possible that his form was transferred into some sort of cosmic vessel. In the comics, Apocalypse is known to constantly return from the dead, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him return in future installments, possibly the giant X-Teamup movie that Kinberg suggested was happening.

4. New Beginning for Xavier And Magneto

The ending conversation between Xavier and Magneto was mirroring their first scene in the original 2000 X-Men. It showed that the future of their relationship could go anywhere. This could lead into many possibilities, Xavier and Magneto stuck in the Savage Land in X-Men Sinister? It's possible. It's very exciting to wonder what the future has in store for the two, even with it being confirmed Xavier being in New Mutants.

3. The New X-Men

One of the most exciting aspects of Apocalypse was the new team of X-men. Magneto and Xavier had their focus in the First Class trilogy, and with Apocalypse begins the Cyclops-Nightcrawler-Jean Grey trilogy. It's great to see characters like Scott Summers again given the true attention they deserve. Although this Cyclops isn't 1:1 of his comic counterpart, it seems as if he might be more interesting than the typical "Whiner Cyclops"

With the X-men being assembled for the first time, non-fractured since X2, it truly is something to be excited for.

2. A Sinister Future

Mr. Sinister is a somewhat hard villain to adapt. He's not necessarily a great character, but he has the potential to be if enough is changed about him. After Apocalypse, the X-Men need a more personal threat to mutants that isn't world ending.

It should be interesting to see where they go with Sinister, especially with the 90's setting and the aftermath of Apocalypse. It should caution itself however, with it being in risk of becoming "just another superhero movie."

1. The Opportunity Of A New World

X-Men Apocalypse changed the game rules of the universe the mutants inhabit. It's opened up a world of possibility and the creative direction can go anywhere. Signified by Magneto And Xavier's speech at the beginning of the movie being the same as the original X-men, it showed that the world in the future is going to be much different.

People complain that the X-men movies not mirroring the Deadpool movie, but what they don't understand is that Apocalypse is the beginning of the world you see in Deadpool. As much as people dislike the "realistic Singer universe," but I'm interested in seeing the combination of Singer's heart and emotion combined with the original comics (Not the animated series please!)

Regardless what your opinion is of the Fox universe, you have to admit you are at least a bit excited for the future, right? Sound off in the comments below on your take.

@Doomsday8888 - Onslaught is created thanks to a part of Apocalypse still being inside Xavier's mind.

So here is my fan fiction summary of how they should proceed...

I would love a story in which Mr. Sinister and Magneto create Genosha and strike a deal with the governments of the world that Mutants can live in peace there if they remain in that location and not venture to human territories. Charles Xavier is against it believing that it is better for humans and mutants to learn to live together. Most mutants however follow Sinister and Magneto there leaving the X-men at Charles mansion as the only non-humans outside of Genosha. The military and nations begin to pressure Xavier and the X-Men to relocate to Genosha with many of Charles students opting to leave. This ignites a fissure between X-men members as to what they should do. Mystique, Beast, Night Crawler, and Storm want to leave while Xavier, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Quick Silver want to stay.

Magneto later discovers that Sinister is not a real Mutant but a genetically altered human designed by Stryker to trick the mutants into gathering in one place where they can be watched, controlled and neutralized if needed. He tries to tell Xavier but is captured. He (Magneto) is aided by Stryker's son (who is a mutant) and who through images projected to Charles mind informs him of Sinister's plan. Charles leads the X_men to Genosha but has to fight through a gauntlet of mutants (without killing them) since mutants see Sinister as a Moses figure who led them to the "promised land." They successfully free Magneto but Sinister confronts Charles and the X-Men. He is powerful enough to almost defeat the X-Men but with the help of Magneto they subdue Sinister. Sinister convinces Magneto that he is really on the side of Mutants even if he was once human and that Magneto can take his place ruling Genosha a Mutant sanctuary which he has always wanted. It works and along with Magneto, Mystique, Beast, Night Crawler, and Storm stop the other X-men from capturing Sinister and he escapes.

The story ends with Stryker and Sinister discussing a new mind control weapon that can be used on other mutants but he need to study a recently discovered mutant to proceed. Stryker asks who this mutant is, and Sinister tells him it is his son. Stryker can't believe it but soon accepts it. Sinister assures him that once they are able to control the mutants they can focus on curing them including his son. Stryker goes along with it and Sinister tells him he will lead a strike team to begin capture mutants and to ready the facility Alkaline Lake and restart the sentinel program.

The end

I still think we should have seen Mr. Sinister onscreen before Apocalypse. I always thought the latter was a more formidable foe.

##### SPOILERS ####

I really enjoyed Magnetos arc in First Class, his and Charles had chemistry and seeing their friendship and rivalry blossom was something I was really looking forward to.

However, I think the movies lost their way. The increased focus on J.Law, which I understand as you have a big star, but it took away from the core story, the heart. That in a way Charles and Eric are brothers torn apart by wanting to do right by their family each one willing to give their life and either of them wrong.

But, having Eric slaughter millions (Or at least thousands) then shrugging it off was a bad move, they either go full bad guy turn... with Charles upset that he lost the fight for Eric's soul or Eric stops before he begins.

Overall the film was OK, neither good nor bad. I was entertained for 2 hours, which is good, but I don't think I would watch it again as hasn't really offered anything new and for me, as mentioned, they lost the heart of the what made First Class so good.

Disclaimer: This is personally opinion, I am happy if you loved, hated, agree or disagree with me.

Genosha would be beautiful. But I would only tease it's presence in the next film to make it a very weighty story element in a possible solo film for Magneto or another X-Men flick.

I liked Apocalypse, however I'm starting to get bored of X-Men. They need to make it more interesting and compelling. Plus the timeline is still screwed up despite Days of Future Past. Stop doing these movies in the 60's/70's/80's/90's and make them PRESENT DAY! The setting is cool for a little bit, but the characters look like they haven't aged a day since First Class. The original trilogy built to something at least, the crappy X-Men: The Last Stand. We will never see the original X-Men on screen if they are for sure going with X-23 for the new Wolverine. We need something like Wolverine and the X-Men type movie, that was the best X-Men cartoon and storyline next to the Age of Apocalypse comicbook. Rant over, just my two cents.
