Alex Gonzalez, aka Riptide, Talks X-Men: First Class, Marauders And More!

Our friends over at Comicus have a revealing new interview with the actor, and below are just some of the highlights. To read the whole thing, simply click on the link below to head on over to the site.

How did you get the role? And How Long Have You Been taking part to the shootings?

I did an audition in London, and few days later I had an interview with Matthew Vaughn. Although my character is not one of the protagonists, I spent the whole time in the movie locations, that is four months in London, three weeks in Georgia and a couple of months in LA.

Does the movie character of Riptide have something in common with the comics background characters (Marauders, Sinister, etc.) or has he been made over completely?

We are not going to see Riptide's background in the movie, nevertheless it was very useful for me as an actor. Regarding His Powers, Almost everything like he does in the comic, Basically he can control the wind.

What kind of technologies did you use to realize his powers? Were They All digital effects or did you use traditional visual effects too?

A big part of the powers was made with visual effects, but also with traditional ones. For example, when I create the tornado, you will see myself spinning very fast on some sort of table machine (wich is very dizzy).

Can you tell us if the director Matthew Vaughn invited you to make Any reference to Some stories In Particular That Came Out on the "X-Men" series regular?

Not really. As in the comic, he is a villain and Belongs to the Marauders.

X-Men: First Class is set to be released on June 3, later this year!

i'm posting this in advance because i know xinstituto's arrogant ass is going to post that ridiculous first class makes money = sequel, boycott = rights go back to marvel fantasy crap...here you go xinstituto

from the news archives...

Insiders are telling IESB Disney would love to get Fantastic Four back under their control and that this series, above all, fits the Disney mold the best being the first superhero family.

While Daredevil isn't considered a first tier character, the Mouse House wants Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil back under the control of Marvel Entertainment.

Disney will never and I mean never, ever, not in a 100 years, get this property back under the control of Marvel Entertainment, just not going to happen. Fox owns all of these properties for perpetuity, in other words, for-ev-ver....for-ev-ver...

Word on the street is Fox has made it very clear that they will not let go of any of the properties under their control for any live action medium.

We've also been told that if it ever came to the point where they were going to lose any property they own because of failing to have a movie in production, they would simply produce a low budget, straight-to-DVD feature and stick it in any theater to fulfill their theatrical release clause.

So what about Sony's Spider-Man franchise? Same thing as the Fox deal, the contracts protect the studio 100% but they do have to continue to make movies with the Marvel characters on a regular basis. Spider-Man is not going anywhere, that also includes Venom.

Bottom line, the Sony and Fox contracts are rock solid. They will both keep their respective properties under their control. But you can be sure because they have plenty of money to spend, Disney will still have those Mickey Mouse lawyers looking for a loop hole....

THE RIGHTS WILL NEVER GO BACK TO MARVEL!!! THE BEST YOU CAN HOPE FOR IS A REBOOT, YOU FOOL!

...He'll just lead into the 80s, with Sinister as the main villain..and yes, possibly Gambit's "X-Men" introduction done properly. Along with other characters who would fit the 80s (Dazzler, Polaris, Psylock, etc..)

I almost fully believe they know what they're doing this time around...I hope so

As much as the idea of the X-men franchise reverting to Marvel would be a fantastic idea and a dream come through as a CBM fan. I like the original concept behind Fox's X-men, story wise. I just wish they would push for better storylines (ahem X3!) and have proper continuity (ahem...First Class! ahem...Wolverine Origins!)

I'm liking the idea or Mauraders. I'm currently reading through the 80's era of X-Men so I've been seeing him alot. Not that he's that special, but all the story lines (that Fox could potentially use but probably wont....) he's associated with were pretty awesome. He was the first guy Colossus ever "killed" (i think he's the first, and by "killed" I mean he was back in a few months)

Nice, I hope it will be a lead-in to a proper introduction of the Sinister & the Marauders in a sequel
