And The Best Reviewed Superhero Film Of The Year Is...?

It's been a pretty great year for comic book movies and fans waiting so long to see their favorite characters on the big screen. There were five big superhero adaptations in 2011, so now hit the jump to see which one was the best reviewed!

The Green Hornet, THOR, X-Men: First Class and Captain America: The First Avenger...Those are five superhero films of 2011, and it's time to see which one was the best reviewed, and which one the worst. More and more people look at Rotten Tomatoes to see what critics have to say about upcoming films, so below is a list based on the rating for each film. And as you know, rating is usually a big deal, especially for big films like these. Also, I will put an audience rating and how many people liked the film. More below.

1. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Tomatometer Critics: 86%, Audience: 88% - FRESH

2. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Tomatometer Critics: 79%, Audience: 81% - FRESH

3. THOR

Tomatometer Critics: 77%, Audience: 80% - FRESH

4. THE GREEN HORNET

Tomatometer Critics: 44%, Audience: 48% - ROTTEN

5. GREEN LANTERN

Tomatometer Critics: 26%, Audience: 53% - ROTTEN

There you go! For a film everyone thought it will be the worst, Matthew Vaughn and the cast certainly proved them wrong. Not only it's the best reviewed superhero film of the year, but it seems it's also the best reviewed comic book movie of 2011. Captain America and Thor are close to X-Men, The Green Hornet got very mixed reviews, some liked it, some didn't, while Green Lantern was not well received in any way.

Green Lantern was better than Hornet and Thor. it should've been the best. You should've featured the median compared to imdb too.

i feel like GL was unfairly reviewed, i mean it wasn't great, but it was only a little worse than thor

That's surprising considering Captain America was absolutely pointless and often boring. Not saying that Green Lantern and Green Hornet were better but Thor was definitely a better film than Captain America. If you've seen the trailer and the avengers teaser, then there's not much else in the film which is worth remembering.

x-men first class was good, but definetly not better than thor or captain america.x-men first class featured a bunch of characters i really couldn't give a shit about.i.e riptide, angel salvadore, darwin, banshee, mystique & shaw.green lantern & green hornet were about the same level of bad.

I really loved X-Men First Class and CapTFA the most.

First Class was a really well executed film overall so it deserves this win for sure.

I actually thought GL was slightly better than Thor. But Cap was faaaaaaaaar superior to both of them. But I don't know...there was something about XFC, the action and story meshed so well together and you actually cared about Erik and I loved the final scene when he put that bullet through Shaw. The movie was just really, really great.

At the start of the year I predicted this:

Thor
Green Lantern
Captain America
Green Hornet
X-Men

I'd rank them this way now:
X-Men
Captain America
Thor
Green Lantern
Green Hornet

My ranking goes...

XFC

That's just my personal ranking. I'm looking forward to 2012 (Avengers, Batman and Spider-Man) and 2013 (Superman, Iron-Man3 and Thor2)

I definitely agree with the top 3 although I think thor should have had a higher percentage than it did but, terrible as green lantern was it was better than green hornet, that piece of crap wasn't worth the bandwidth it took to download it

Im a DC fanboy and I have to say it deserves to be last on this list. Im sorry but Green Lantern was crap and a huge disappointment.
Thor, Captain America and X-men were way better. I actually enjoyed those movies.

Green Lantern was better than Green Hornet? You people smoke crack. I understand that Seth Rogen would have been most people's 1sy, 2nd or last choice for the Green Hornet. But for what the filmmakers were going for, they succeeded. Green Lantern failed to achieve anything except for presenting a Green Lantern in film. Rotten Tomatoes fresh review is accurate as hell. Green Hornet's biggest problem is not having a huge fan base because it's a not a popular character or comic.

Wow surprising!!
X-men was way lower on the list for me/
My List:
THOR
CAP
GREEN LANTERN
XMEN
GREEN HORNET

X-men should have been JUST about Xavier, Magneto, and Villan (Humanity in my opinion should have been the starting villan). I Honestly couldn't have cared less about the movie.

First Class was shit compared to Captain America. Xmen from a ordinary viewers point of view was awesome, but from a fans point of view... That movie was terrible, flaws coming out of the ass. Cap was the best this year (in my opinion) Thor is at a close second, and Green Lantern at 3rd. (because I thought Lantern was a fun mindless movie), I enjoyed simply seeing the Green Lantern on the big screen. It was just comforting, I like the character, at least for Green Lantern, they didnt terribly [frick] up the origin of any and every character they mentioned or showed in the movie (First Class)

Green Hornet was not bad. I kinda enjoyed it. Some comedy mixed with some pretty kick ass action.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 8/7/2011, 12:09 PM
I'm not going to jump on the First class bandwagon just because Rotten Tomatoes has it reviewed higher than the Thor or Cap. Thor or Cap were still much more enjoyable movies and not completely off-track from the source, which makes or breaks a good CBM movie for me. Please notice I put "For me". Green Hornet was an abomination of of what Green Hornet should be.

@ RamonSuarez - Its not that DC fanboys are protecting Green Lantern. Im a Marvel fan through and through, but even i will agree that Green Lantern wasnt as bad as critics made it to be. It just wasnt what everyone expected.

Also, I do agree that this is a complete 180 reversal from the expectations at the beginning of the year when everyone was bashing X-Men and had high hopes for Green Lantern. I never wouldve guessed this would be the end result.

X-men First Class for the win. I absolutely loved that movie because its story was much more deep than all the others. It talks about racism and the Holacaust which are both very mature subjects.

I loved First Class, but did anyone else think it was too "jumpy" I mean seriously I have never seen a film that jumped from location to location so fast, that was its only flaw. I just wished it stayed still for more than 20mins.

Wow this whole comment section was people still talking about how bad Green Lantern was.......I remember more stuff from Green Lantern then Thor. Thor and Green Lantern were both good in their own ways. I enjoyed GL more then Thor though for some reason. While I was hoping for GL to be a space epic, It was still a entertaining movie.
1.Cap
2.X-Men( I actually enjoyed it after seeing it)
3.GL
4.Thor
5. Green Hornet(I enjoyed this too but Seth should stick to other films.)
