Bryan Cranston Reveals The Specific X-MEN Villain He Wants To Play On The Big Screen

Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston recently revealed that he fancies taking on the role as a "nasty" Marvel villain, but the actor has now named the bad guy he specifically wants to bring to life on the big screen, and his identity may just surprise you. Hit the jump for details...

Breaking Bad's Walter White was a facinatingly complex character, and Bryan Cranston has so far done a great job of avoiding being typecast in villainous roles since the AMC series ended. However, that doesn't mean he doesn't want to play one, and talking at a panel for SuperMansion at the New York Comic Con today, the actor revealed the idenity of the Marvel bad guy he has his eye on; Mr. Sinister. While he didn't go into detail as to exactly why that is, the crowd reportedly went wild when he made the suggestion, and it's easy understand why. The iconic X-Men villain would be a great choice of bad guy for the new generation of mutants who will likely be the focal point of the trilogy which follows X-Men: Apocalypse, especially given his links to Scott Summers. Whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen of course, but you have to believe that Fox will take notice of this (and if they have any common sense, they'll make it happen). How would you guys feel about Cranston playing Mr. Sinsiter? As always, let us know your thoughts below...

I could see Mr. Sinister working on the big screen. Not the biggest fan of Bryan Cranston.

I want him to be a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Would rather see him as Norman Osborn, but I could get with that. I always thought Michael Wincott would be a good fit.

Mr Sinister is awesome, so is Cranston, I can't really picture Cranston in the role though

Mr. Sinister always seemed kinda cartoony to me, so I wouldn't mind at all to see Bryan play the character

Cranston was born to play Commissioner Gordon in the new Batman universe, nuff said

Cranston should be Osborn.

I could see him as Norman Osborn or ISAAC, Thanos's supercomputer.

I don't see him playing Mr Sinister, he's a fantastic actor but I just can't see him pulling off Mr Sinister.

Sinister is kind of a cook, just like Walter White - just with DNA not drugs.

I'm actually hoping we get a younger (not too young) and more physically imposing Osborn in the MCU, I want him to be smart, manipulative, insane, and physical

I can picture Cranston doing all of that, I just can't picture him flying around on a glider or fighting Spider-Man

Glad he's not one of those actors wetting themselves to be in the MCU. I could totally see him as Mr. Sinister

Knew it when I saw the headline… no. Sorry Bryan, but Sinister ain't the part for you. I do hear Marvel has a position open as Norman Osborn, I'd look into it if I were you…

An X-Men villain would be great but I'm begging for him to be Commissioner Gordon.

Just stay faaaaaaaaaaaar away from an MCU villain.

I gotta disagree with you guys...

While I do see Cranston as Norman Osborn, I just don't see him playing the Green Goblin.

Cranston was born to play Jim Gordon. Don't really see him as Norman, though. (He's a good enough actor that I'm sure he could do it.)

I'd honestly like to see him get an opportunity to do comedy, though. The guy is a brilliant comedic actor as much as a dramatic one.

You want someone to be Norman Osborn? How bout some Matthew McConaughey. He'd knock it out of the park while being the perfect age and physical status.

Depending on the concept/outfit/costume they go for, he could pull off a good Goblin.

@dethpillow
if he was in Marvel, i'd rather see him as JJJ...

Oooh, yeah. I forgot about Jameson. That'd work. Especially the weirdly obsessed asshat version of Jameson that got in league with the Spider Slayers and Mac Gargon and whatnot.

Since I just saw J. Jonah Jameson being mentioned in the comments, I'd definitely go with John Goodman; I'm advocating for it.

@dethpillow - "i agree that he was born to be Gordon.
works out good with Affleck's age too. 16 years apart.
u could stretch that to 21 years movie wise. so when Batman is 30, Gordon is 51.
when Batman is 25, Gordon is 46. that sounds perfect."

Affleck, Cranston & Terrio worked together before in Argo.

Looks like Bruce Wayne & Jim Gordon to me...

And here's Cranston talking about voicing Jim Gordon in Batman Year One.

Put some green greasepaint on that, slap a purple beanie on top, and you've got yourself a Goblin.
