Fox, X-Men Reboot? Fantastic Four and X-Men Cinematic Universe?

Do you think Fox should reboot the X-Men series along with the 2015 film, Fantastic Four? Or should they keep the same storyline, with all these plot holes?

I am ''optimistic' about the new Fantastic Four film in 2015, and think it will turn out good (hopefully). But seriously, Fox has got to get there crap together, with the X-Men franchise; to make a cinematic universe between The X-Men and Fantastic Four. Firstly, Hugh Jackman has stated that he wants DOFP to be his final appearance as Wolverine. So, I believe Fox should reboot the X-Men series with new actors (even though Hugh Jackman is the perfect Wolverine), and start fresh with both the X-Men and Fantastic Four, but this time be aware of timeline issues, maybe start with the original X-Men team, which was Cyclops, Beast etc. and build of of those characters. This would be the perfect time to start a fresh reboot for both franchises. But, Fox has announced an X-Men : Apocalypse film for 2016, do you think they should change that idea to a rebooted X-Men flick? With all the timeline issues in the X-Men Universe at the moment I think they should. Plus, Fox wants to do a crossover with Marvel but, Marvel doesn't want to get their franchises in the wrath of Fox (meaning 'not so great superhero movies'). If Fox starts fresh and cleans up their act we might see Wolverine or The Human Torch team up with Captain America and Hulk in a Civil War movie, and Sony's Spider-Man might even want to jump on the band wagon.

I want them to reboot it. I've liekd there past two movies and think DOFP will be good, but I'm getting sick of these people. X-Men: Apocalypse should end with some new universe opening and then we should focus on that. That universe shouldn't even be connected to First Class.

Isn't Jackman doing a Wolverine sequel and X Force?
And there is no way they are going to reboot X Men after securing high profiled actors like Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender.

I don't think I want to see F4 and X Men have a shared universe, I just don't think they'd blend well together (without the Marvel properties as well).
But if they do the beginning that with the new F4 is a good way to begin.

I don't know if people know this or not but X-Men First Class was supposed to be a reboot. Yes it had nods to the older films but it was essentially a reboot. They said it before. Then when the Avengers came and they saw a cohesive cinematic universe they scratched the "reboot" of it and just acted it was a continuation all along. Unless they make a new timeline in this movie and refresh it I don't see how the X-Men franchise will survive. I don't think they should re-reboot it. They should just make a "new" altered timeline or something.

As for Fantastic Four... idk. I'd rather see them alone. Without the X-Men for some reason.

Marvel/Disney will buy back the rights when their phases begin to burn out!

@PAF

yeah, that's not true at all. FC was never a reboot. They chose characters specifically for that movie based on the previous films. They specifically wanted to show Xavier's and Magneto's past, and they decided to include Mystique and Beast because those were the only two characters from the original trilogy whose age was ambiguous so they could be included in a 60's setting. This was all talked about in interviews leading up to the movie, which came out a whole year before Avengers.

@tvor03

You're half right. The idea was to explore a younger Magneto and Xavier, because it was based off the X-Men Origins Magneto script. They did want to do what you stated but when they couldn't get it off the ground in time. They finally gave the project to Mathew Vaughn. The only reason he took it is because it was set in the 60's, and because it was essentially a reboot. He said himself that if it was a "continuation/prequel" he wouldn't have taken it. The nods to the previous films were Easter eggs for the fans.

I'm not trying to make this in "copycat, copycat" but thats the reason why we are getting Days of Future Past and not a direct First Class sequel. Its because of what Marvel started with the cohesive universe, in e.g. The Avengers. I hope it turns out great but I hope they make a new timeline or something because they can't depend on Hugh Jackman forever.

Why reboot it? Because you didnt get the films you wanted or the comicbook accurate film of the xmen?

None of Marvels films are comicbook accurate.

They are films written produced and directed by other people.

Get over it.

X3 and Xmen origins are the only 2 films that arent that good. But they made money and people keep coming back for more.

This is what is happening so either boycott the films or shut the F up.

First Class was basically a reboot. Days of Future Past is also another form of a reboot.

You are getting what you want but what is the reason to go back to square one? Why do I need to see another first class or another X men. You can keep the continuity and move the universe forward.

Stop complaining people.

I agree with some of the comments in this editorial.

I think there should either be a revert or a reboot.

Guy I just found out that DOFP is going to reboot the franchise without effecting the first three X-Men films. Kind of like what JJ.Abrams did with Star Trek. So X-Men : First Class was a reboot basically, there just using the previous actors.

Yeah, I think that DOFP is going to basically reset the X-Men universe, but hopefully keep the main actors from First Class. I love having Fassbender, Lawrence and McAvoy on board. They can bring in new, younger versions of Storm and Cyclops.

The timeline problems in the X-Men franchise have never bothered me. I realize that there is a bit of a mess, but it's never been a cause of concern for me. I just want the films to be good, and starting with First Class, I've been happy.

@Wallymelon, JJ63, I agree.

I don't know how the Fantastic Four will fit in. But I don't see Fox rebooting X-Men or crossing over with Marvel Studios.

Ok this is just so misinformed here. You're stating a few things are fact here when the DEFINITELY are not. First of all, Jackman never said that he wanted DOFP to be his last appearance as wolverine. And where the hell did you get the idea that FOX wanted to crossover with Marvel Studios?? Never heard that..ever. In fact I heard that they have been trying to distance Marvel execs away from their movies as much as contractually possible for awhile now just to twist the fork in them. I also heard the feeling was mutual on Marvels end.

However I definitely agree that FOX should reboot the X-Men franchise though and start all over. Or at the very least just continue on with the First Class timeline and write over all the previous movies. If they did that along with constructing a plan for a bigger picture and timeline, then I think they could finally get the show on the road with a proper X-Men Cinematic Universe that fans and GA could enjoy thoroughly.

Look, doesn't Marvel still own the television rights to the X-men? I say they just start pumping out X-men episodes in the tone of the 90's animated series. The high caliber content would make for a more discriminating cinema audience and raise the bar for the movie franchise...or lower box office grosses and the rights will revert to Marvel. I should say, however, that I like the Singer X-men films and am optimistic about DOFP.
