Hugh Jackman Discusses X-MEN: APOCALYPSE & Next Solo WOLVERINE Film

Hugh Jackman ("X-Men: Days of Future Past") recently chatted with MTV's Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. During the discussion, Jackman was asked about X-Men: Apocalypse and his next solo Wolverine film. Check it out.

Hugh Jackman ("The Wolverine") has appeared in every X-Men film, so the very thought of him not appearing in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse seems inconceivable. But, Jackman, along with many other original X-Men cast members, haven't been confirmed for the follow up to X-Men: Days of Future Past. We do know a couple of familiar characters, Jean Grey and Cyclops, will be recast with younger actors as some of the film will take place in the '80s. MTV's Josh Horowitz was just as curious as we are on the matter of Jackman's involvement, so he asked the Australian actor about it on his Happy Sad Confused podcast.

“I have been speaking to the guys, and I’m not at liberty to tell exactly what’s going on,” he said, “which is largely framing my answer here.”

But there’s still a lot unknown about that, actually,” he told Horowitz. “There are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There’s some really cool things going on.

Jackman comes off a bit coy when it comes to X-Men: Apocalypse, but I, and everyone else, would be shocked if he isn't in it when the film opens May 27, 2016. As for his next Wolverine solo film, which is set to open March 3, 2017, the actor has been “working on it really hard” with screenwriter David James Kelly. Hope so!

You can listen to the podcast below.

Ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be directed by Bryan Singer ("Usual Suspects"). The cast includes: Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing, Evan Jonigkeit, Adan Canto and Josh Helman.

Isn't it common knowledge that Hugh would be in the film?

So either he can't say anything because he's not involved or he can't say anything because he is involved... This article told us so much xD

The day that Wolverine isn't in an X-Men movie will be the day that Sony actually makes a good Spider-Man movie.

I thought he was done with playing Wolverine? Honestly no disrespect to him but I would like to see someone younger and new play him were he isn't the center of the X-verse. I think he was done a great job with the character given the shit PG 13 stamp and writing but the character is really boring now.

That's a shame, I really wanted Fox to reboot their Cinematic Universe with Deadpool, following X-Men: Apocalypse.

I appreciate Hugh hard work to get in shape and all, but Id be happy if Wolverine doesnt appear in Apocalypse introduction. This way, young Cyclops, Jean, Storm and co. could have a better development.

I hope Jackman is in Apocalypse. Like to see what they change about his history after DOFP.

@IamnotYou

Fox gave themselves a timeline loophole in DOFP. When Hank was talking about time being like a river. You can create a ripple, but time will always correct itself. They can kinda pick and choose what events they want to retcon, and what events they want to leave there.

I would love to see Wolvie as a Horseman. Him, Gambit, Archangel, and Mystique.

Why are people snarking at Hugh. It sucks but actors just can't talk about it no matter how much they want it.

And Wolverine is iconic. Only character from the X-men universe that I'm remotely interested in as a solo flick. Now if only the solo movies were great. Wolverine is a great and rich character and sadly that richness has never truly been captured. Wolverine deserves a great writer.

Upcoming solo Wolverine films should be, The Wolverine: Weapon X. Let's get a proper film about Wolverine's time with the Weapon X program. Have the film mostly take place while Wolverine is being "upgraded" by Weapon X. Have the film end with him escaping the facility, to set up a sequel that will foretell his time with the Hudson's and trying to tame his feral side. Weapon X of course still involved searching for Wolverine.

I really hope Cyclops does not get the shaft in X men Apocalypse. Still waiting for Cyclops to become a full leader of the X-men like Captain America with The Avengers.

Also, X-men must have there costumes, there's no excuses now to not have costumes for the X-men.
