It Sounds Like CAPTAIN BRITAIN Isn't Coming To The Small Screen After All

Captain Britain may not be as well known as a certain other captain from across the pond, but a TV show has the potential to be pretty awesome. Unfortunately, it seems it's definitely not going to happen.

Yesterday, a Tweet sent out by poster artist Ciara McAvoy seemed to reveal that Marvel (or Fox depending on whether or not Captain Britain was lumped in with the X-Men rights; he does after all have ties to those characters) are developing a TV series featuring one of the UK's few superheroes.

Taking into account all of the mythological aspects of the character's history and the fact that he's been known to travel between dimensions as part of the Captain Britain Corps, there's no denying that this is an adaptation which has a ton of potential.

There's just one problem. It's not happening! According to TV Line, "Well-placed sources, however, assure TVLine that the rumor is 'not true.'" This isn't the first time we've seen a denial like this of course, but as much as I'd like to see Captain Britain on the big or small screen, it's hard to imagine that he's a priority for...well, anyone! We'll have to wait and see if he's destined for live-action, but for now, let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Wow...
I don't really care about Captain Britain. I'm just waiting for there to be a good Ghost Rider or Fantastic Four property.

This rumor was about as credible as a rumor of a Captain Carrot live action series from the producers of Roger Rabbit.

When Ciara McAvoy said on twitter that an announcement was to come in late 2016 to early 2017, I knew this wasn't anywhere close to being official. That is way too long to wait before anything gets moving. Perhaps there was some talk in some circles but I don't believe anything was concrete enough to make a proclamation this early.

@String - You're right. Nothing official. She's going to pitch the idea with another producer to some people at Marvel (when they have some artwork done to present them).

Check out her recent tweets. She's merely the poster artist on the project. However, the producer, Chris Lark, has confirmed that it's happening. Though, it's in very early stages and by "very early", I mean that they haven't even pitched the idea/concept to Marvel yet. He mentions that he and the co-prod Eleni Larchanidou, are cooking up a highlight reel to present to Marvel.

So my understanding of that is, it's basically not an officialy greenlit project by Marvel, yet.

Anyway, check out the dude's tweet for yourselves. I can't embed tweets in the comment section.

@Killuminatic -

Yea its not official just yet. The way I see it, they're just making a pitch for the project and hoping Marvel comes around and greenlights it. The way she announced it was quite assumptive, which caused people to start talking about the project. That was smart on her part. People are now talking about Captain Britain.
