James McAvoy, who portrays one of the lead roles in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class as Professor X, speaks briefly with Josh Wigler of MTV. In the first segment of the interview he revealed how he would make the role his own, and not imitate Patrick Stewart's performance. And now he sheds a little light on his & co-star Michael Fassbender's Magneto relationship in the film.

"I think there's a lot of room there for a real connection," McAvoy told us of his hopes for the relationship between the two "First Class" protagonists. "By the end of that relationship, there's still a kind of affection for each other. You see that in the stuff that Patrick and [Sir Ian McKellen] did together. There's a lot of love there, strangely, I think."

"I think the fun about these films, when you go back and you either reboot or do a prequel, is you get to see how people became who they are," the actor explained. "That means that you have to do them differently and by the end of the movie you have to do them the same way. The interesting journey is what happens to them, what changes them, what makes them evolve — not just mutate, but emotionally and psychologically evolve."

X-Men: First Class hits theaters June 3rd, next year!

@Intruder

Have you read Kick Ass? I am guessing not cause then you would know Hit Girl talks exactly like that in the comics fool. Goldman was brought in to help make the story a better transition from comics to film and she did a great [frick]ing job too. Kick Ass rocked and Vaughn is amazing. Until we see a trailer (not a teaser) we need to all shut up and be patient.

Yes I hate fox, Yes I am pissed there is no Cyke, and Yes I have read the first class comics before to know they are doing alot wrong with this film but I have faith in Vaughn and Co.

OK, I know this may be somewhat like stepping into a minefield but I'm going to do it anyway. WHAT IS UP WITH ALL OF THE HATE???? The only thing we KNOW about this movie is the DIRECTOR and the CAST. We know VERY little of the storyline and have seen NOTHING so far of the actual production save one or two OUT OF CONTEXT photos. We do KNOW that the director of this film has turned out VERY GOOD FILMS IN THE PAST and so has his screenwriter. Sometimes I feel like I'm the ONLY PERSON who is excited that we are getting an X-men movie SET IN THE 60'S you know, JUST LIKE THE COMIC WAS WHEN IT CAME OUT???? I mean did any of you people ever even READ UNCANNY XMEN from the 60's at all???? Ok so there is no Jean or Scott...that might be the only gripe I have! I'll save any other gripes until I ACTUALLY SEE THE MOVIE. When it comes out. In 2011...which is almost a YEAR from now. Everybody nitpicking and calling foul on something before they even see it is like going out to eat, ordering a meal, and complaining that the meal is terrible BEFORE YOU EVEN EAT IT!!! We all have seen Kick Ass which is one of the rare examples of the film being better than the source material. VAUGHN DIRECTED THAT! HE'S DIRECTING X-MEN!!!!! If you decide to "boycott" it, which by the way is downright laughable, then just do it! If you want to hate on it, then at least have the decency to wait for a trailer!

intruder- a lot of the people are open minded to this and there are movies off the materials that did [frick]ing great kick-ass and some that were close to the materials and did bad watchmen, so even if its far from the source it can turn out great or bad like watchmen is 50/50 CHANCE.

Is this in the same continuity as the 3 X-Men and the Wolverine movies? Because I hated those movies. Pseudo-X-Men.
