A South Dakota judge found the British tough-guy innocent of misdemeanor simple assault stemming from the incident in a South Dakota pub.
The former professional soccer player turned big-screen action star (Snatch; X-Men: The Last Stand; Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) had been accused of head-butting another patron of Wiley's Tavern in Sioux Falls after getting hit in the face with a beer mug in early December 2008.
Jones' attorney, Peter Wold, told the court his client was acting in self-defense.
"Vinnie Jones used very reasonable force in an attempt to protect himself when he finally could," he said.
The 44-year-old actor was visiting the rural state on a pheasant-hunting trip.
