Marvel Studios Concept Artist Andy Park Doesn't Expect The X-MEN In The MCU Anytime Soon

While there's a very good chance that the deal between Disney and Fox will happen, it won't be confirmed for at least another year or so and that means we need to hold off on getting too excited about seeing the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also appears as if Marvel is holding off on preparing for their arrival based on comments from concept artist Andy Park.

Asked during a recent interview about whether or not he and his co-workers are aware of what Kevin Feige's plans might be for those heroes, Park admitted that they're currently all in the dark.

"There’s nothing really to say yet. At least beyond, ‘Wow.’ That whole Disney buying Fox deal is – none of us saw that coming, and
we’re amazed and excited, because we always dreamed of having the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU, but nothing’s actually been decided or announced. So, I have nothing to spill, ’cause I don’t even know what the future is. The only thing I’ve read… these thing are going to take at least 12 months to 18 months for something to even happen."

Well, that's disappointing and it's hard not to imagine these concept artists being hard at work coming up with new looks for the likes of Wolverine and The Thing! Park, however, was quick to reiterate that we won't see them in any upcoming Marvel movies (so there goes the possibility of an Avengers 4 cameo). "If people are expecting to see them in one of our near upcoming films like they might be disappointed," he explained. "I don’t know. I would love to see them, too, but I have no idea when they’re actually going to come out, but I’m excited for the future. I can’t wait to find out."

What do you think the future holds for the Fantastic Four and X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? As always, be sure to share your thoughts and theories with us in the comments section.

I don’t think many of us thought we would be seeing them for at least a few years. But that’s cool. They’re coming and it keeps space open for things like Black Widow.

@TheUnworthyThor - now that you mention it, it makes sense why they FINALLY green lit this movie. They have to get it in now before they stuff in F4and X-men, otherwise we’d never get a BW movie later on lol

@Doomsday8888 - Even Feige has said the mutant universe is something unique, it does not fit into Avengers. And I agree, it just doesnt fit.
