A Few X-MEN May Show Up In Fox's NEW MUTANTS Movie

Simon Kinberg teases that a few familiar faces from the previous X-Men films will show up in the New Mutants movie. What X-Men do you think deserve a chance to shine in the spinoff?

Is Fox using their X-Men spinoffs to give opportunities to team members not named Wolverine, Mystique or Magneto?  Colossus definitely got his chance to shine in Deadpool and executive producer Simon Kinberg has revealed that other X-Men characters may get a similar shot in the New Mutants spinoff.  "Traditionally, the New Mutants have some characters that cross over from the mainline 'X-Men' movies. As we are going, I would say it's likely that you will see some familiar faces."  However, the New Mutants team will not be populated solely by X-Men C-listers, the majority of the team will consist of characters original to the various comic book incarnations of the team.  "There's a very deep bench.  There's a long, long list of names, and I'll tell you some of the names on that list I don't even know. That's how deep it goes."

What's your ideal roster for the New Mutants team?  Given that the film is being described as a Young Adult film (think Hunger Games and The Maze Runner), that would seemingly rule out some of the older X-Men characters like Beast and Wolverine. Upon further thought, it's a little unclear who from the X-Men could join the film, given that X-Men: Apocalypse is set in the '80s.  If the New Mutants film is set in present-day, that would seemingly rule out everyone in Apocalypse as team members. Perhaps a few characters from Apocalypse show up in the New Mutants film as instructors? However, the majority of the cast in Apocalypse are baby-face actors that couldn't pull off playing a version of their characters 30 years older. Fox will certainly have to think this one through to ensure continuity.

@Retribution13 - I'm sure we will see Negasonic show up somewhere, but I doubt they would tie her into to a property that's aimed at 14 year olds

@nibs - What's wrong with including a teenager who acts simply like a teenager in a movie about teenagers aimed at teenagers?

@PietroMaximoff - Because the studio doesn't want to connect a PG movie with an R rated one

@nibs - That is the silliest reasoning I have ever heard. Beyond the fact that all of the existing X-Men films are connected to Deadpool, it's not like NTW was the reason Deadpool was R-rated.

Now, if Fox decided to throw Deadpool himself into the New Mutants movie, we would all be scratching our heads.

But seeing as NTW is a member of the X-Men and is a teenager like the other New Mutants and she exists in the same universe, it is completely possible (even very likely) that she would end up in the New Mutants film.
