Josh Boone Offers An Update On The Status Of NEW MUTANTS

Writer and director Josh Boone has been hard at work adapting New Mutants for a while now, and the filmmaker has taken to Twitter today to offer an update on where the project currently stands.

Following the success of The Fault In Our Stars, Josh Boone has been courted for any number of projects, including the long delayed adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. While that's still in his future, it was revealed earlier this year that Boone will direct and co-write (alongside Knate Gwaltney) New Mutants at Fox. Simon Kinberg will produce, and had this to say at the time: "We’re so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe, and so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters." Well, the first draft of the screenplay is now finished, so we're one step closer to hearing when this team of heroes will arrive on the big screen. Are you looking forward to New Mutants? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

This brings up my curiosity of how long Fox's X-Men trilogy will last.

Other than that, I'm interested in seeing this guy's take on the New Mutants, if the studio doesn't intervene too much.

Well, unless the intervention is for the better.

Besides Deadpool and Wolverine 3, I'm not at all excited by Fox's plans.

I'm so excited for this.
It's a great opportunity to expand the Universe with the pretty awesome supporting characters that New Mutants have,
We can hopefully get a true Ensemble piece

I like this Boone guy. I like that he's doing the script. Offers a BRAND NEW take that's different from Kinberg and Singer

He seems realllllllly into the mythology. Seems like a true fan. I never got that from Singer.

Aww man, my comment/pics didn't show up. But I basically agreed with @0megaDaGr0dd with Kinberg sitting this one out. Like, farrrrrr out. He's a generous guy but his generosity won't shift the X-Men universe where it NEEDS to go. He does want to redeem himself of his faults and I can respect that, but he's got way too much weight on his shoulders. Time to let the newer crowd take over.

Think this will finally be a good X-Film? or will we get more garbage? Or will it be a teen angsty lame movie, like Fault in our Stars?
I dunno, I guess today's kids will see anything. As evidenced by the success of Singer and Co's sub par iterations

This is first time in over a MONTH for me commenting on this site. And the SAME idiots are still here moaning about the same shit when I left. Get a [frick]ing life.

I don't understand it. If you DON'T like something. DON'T [frick]ING WATCH IT, or SOUPPORtT it. It's not hard. NOTHING will change the fact that Fox owns X-Men and FF. So get the [frick] over it. Now I'm going back to living a real life. Instead of arguing with a bunch of dipshits who treats their "opinion" as fact and argue with a bunch of other stupid ass people on a website all day.
