Simon Kinberg Reveals Which Key X-MEN Character We'll Definitely See In NEW MUTANTS

Josh Boone's New Mutants is in the works, but we still don't know when it'll be released. Could that be because it will be the next stage in the X-Men franchise? It seems like a possibility.

With recent rumours pointing to Professor X and Storm showing up in New Mutants, speculation that this franchise could be the next step for the X-Men (as the focus is shifted to a new, younger team of heroes) began to run rampant. Well, it now sounds like this spinoff - which will more than likely take aim at the Young Adult crowd to maximise profits - could very well be connected to the main movies.

Talking to Collider to promote the upcoming release of X-Men: Apocalypse, producer Simon Kinberg told them that they hope to start shooting New Mutants early next year, and confirmed that we will indeed end up seeing a certain bald headed mutant. "Right now, as the movie exists, Professor X would be a part of a New Mutants movie." It's worth noting of course that James McAvoy's contracted appearances as Charles Xavier are now over, so which version we'll get is unclear. Either way, it seems like this group will also call Westchester home, though what decade they'll hail from is unclear. It is of course worth noting that it was said earlier this year that Negasonic Teenage Warhead was wearing a New Mutants uniform in Deadpool). For now, we'll have to wait and see.

Either way, New Mutants has a lot of potential, and it will be interesting to see how closely it ties into the main X-Men franchise. Are you glad to hear that the cast is likely going to include Professor X?
