News of the World film critic Robbie Collin took to his Twitter account earlier today (@robbiereviews) to share his thoughts on X-Men: First Class in a rather cryptic fashion. With an embargo currently stopping reviews of the movie turning up online, the British journalist was crafty enough to not make it too obvious...one thing which is clear though, is that the prequel is a good movie!



So jealous of everyone in Cannes who's seeing X-Men: First Class this morning!!! Oh no, hold on a minute - THAT WOULD BE ME, BITCHES.

Film watched. Now I'm off to get a really quite excellent sandwich.

Woah, woah. Everyone's reading far too much into this. All I'm talking about is a great fun yet multi-layered and at times moving sandwich.


In response to someone who asked whether the "sanwich" was better than the last 3 "sanwiches" he's eaten, he replied:

In my view? Yep. It's a Sandwich Begins kinda sandwich.


And how long is the movie?

A few minutes shy of two hours, if memory serves. Certainly not 'long'.

Totally ran out of words in my X-Men: First Class review. There's a lot to talk about.


X-Men: First Class is set to be released in the UK on June 1st and in the US on June 2nd.

Yeah, I'd be feeling a whole lot happier if this "review" was by someone from Empire as well, but the guys is a good critic, despite the less than brilliant newspaper he writes for, lol. Either way, I'm just pleased to hear some positive feedback about X-Men: First Class, regardless of the source.

hmm, well i want it to be a good movie but i'm still skeptical....GL will be the movie that surprises people at how good it will be.

That's what I've been thinking all along. First Class will be judged as a movie, not as a CBM. And it WILL be seen as a good movie, it just won't be a faithful x-men adaptation. & that's only problem for fanboys like us, not the bigger market Fox wants to capture.

It's blowing my mind that we might actually go 4 for 4 on quality comic book movies. Thor was great, and now Green Lantern and X-Men First Class are looking up too (Green Lantern looks the best so far).

It's going to be an expensive Summer, but a freaking awesome one too.

I'm really trying hard to not want to like this movie but fassbender is going to be amazing. He is really going to be evil, just like he should be.

I kinda hope there is a big fat plate of crow waiting for me...I'll eat it gladly.


Keeping expectations low, even though I've hated on this movie hard.

not surprised the trailers for x men have been good/solid,great action sequences and the acting looks good specially from the lead duo (mostly from the magneto guy/fassbender)

I don't think it will be able to match the first 2 movies (those were amazingly too good and had wolverine)but this looks like will be a good movie from what I've seen so far,an entertaining one with some great action sequences (for the record I thought X3 was decent as well,I only hate wolverine origins)

Good stuff! Obviously it's just one person's opinion but good start anyway. I'm really hoping this movie turns out great, as I do any CBM. Too bad it isn't 2hrs 20mins though.
