Update From The Japan Set Of THE WOLVERINE
Hit the jump to see some new set pictures with Hugh Jackman in costume, and also check out a humorous list of Japanese phrases that was passed out to the crew to help them communicate better.
Model turned actress, Rila Fu-kushima, has posted a part of a document that was handed out to the crew of The Wolverine. It's a collection of useful Japanese phrases on the left, with an easy, and sometimes humorous version of how to pronounce the phrases on the right.
As for filming for the past few days, Hugh Jackman and extras were seen wearing winter attire. Certainly wouldn't want to be Hugh for the past few days with that flannel shirt on and having the temperature spiking over eighty degrees.
For the past several days they've been filming in Tomonoura. A port in Ichichi ward of Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, which is doubling as Nagasaki in the film. The area is known for it's gorgeous scenery and numerous historical temples and shrines.
Some of the scenes being filmed involved Hugh Jackman holding hands and walking with Tao Okamoto who plays Mariko Yashida. The other was of Hugh running through the streets chasing members of the Yakuza. The actors were seen adorning large black tattoos that are associate with that crime family. In the picture below if you zoom in you'll see that the bottom container in the trailer is labeled "Yazuka Shoes."
During the Yakuza chase scene Hugh was dressed in his all black outfit, that he also wore during the funeral scene he filmed just last week. Perhaps his battle with the Yakuza will take place that same day in the film.
Also, a better picture of Rila with her new Yukio hairdo.
Director James Mangold tweeted a pic of his two female leads Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima.
The Wolverine will be directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day), from a script written by Christopher McQuarrie.. The cast includes: Hugh Jackamn (Logan/Wolverine), Svetlana Khodchenkova (Viper), Hiroyuki Sanada (Shingen), Hal Yamanouchi (Yashida), Tao Okamoto (Mariko), Rila Fukushima (Yukio), Brian Tee (Norubo Mori), and Will Yun Lee (Kenuichio Harada/Silver Samurai). The film will claw into theaters July 26, 2013.
