Wolverine "Game Features" Trailer Reveals Deadpool & Wolverine, X-Men '97, And More Unlockable Costumes

An extended trailer for Insomniac Games' Wolverine has been released, and among the biggest reveals are costumes based on Deadpool & Wolverine, X-Men '97, and several iconic comic books.

Insomniac Games has released Mature 17+ trailer for Marvel's Wolverine, and it includes a first look at several of the unlockable costumes players can use.

There are lots of comic-inspired efforts, such as Logan's X-Force uniform, his Weapon X look, and the Age of Apocalypse costume. We're also getting designs based on Wolverine's appearance in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine and Marvel Animation's X-Men '97.

The four-minute-long sneak peek also highlights Wolverine's combat, story, world, and more. The review embargo lifts on September 10, so there's not long to go until we learn whether Insomniac has captured the same magic here as it did with the Spider-Man games.

Talking to Deadline about Wolverine's unlockable costumes—and how they can be customised—director Mike Daly said, "We let you craft suits in the game because, as a fan of Wolverine, it is fun to see the look of your favourite representation of the character."

"So, we built out the roster of suits that we wanted to pull from the things that are going to be the most exciting and inspiring to fans, which means pulling in a lot of iconic representations that they’ll recognise. We really want to give fans the ability to see more of that in the game as part of the choose-your-own-suit experience."

If this means taking elements from several different suits to create unique new variants, then that should be particularly fun. Still, after the Spider-Man games, Insomniac is clearly aware that Marvel fans are particularly eager to use the costumes seen on screen.

Marvel Games executive producer Eric Monacelli explained, "That broad recognition is super important to us from Marvel because we have a wonderful creative team. We work with Insomniac, but of course there’s the creative team that did the Deadpool and Wolverine movie."

"And so we’re like, 'Oh cool, this is a cool suit.' And Insomniac’s like, 'Yeah, that’s a cool suit people know. Can we use it?' And it’s like, 'Hell yeah, you can use it in the game.' It was just about figuring out what’s in the zeitgeist, what’s culturally appropriate, what characters we want to depict."

He continued, "I grew up with Jim Lee, X-Men, 1991. That was my Wolverine. So that suit is what I’d love to wear. But we’re all different. Everybody came into the sort of touchpoint in the world of Marvel at a different point. And so we want people to have that ability to express themselves."

From Insomniac Games, the developers of the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, comes Wolverine, an all-new take on an iconic character, based on Marvel Comics.

In Wolverine, players become a living weapon. As he searches for answers about his past, Wolverine will do whatever it takes—unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage, and relentless determination—to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be.

Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment, Wolverine is coming to the PS5 on September 15.

Just gonna play it, complete all the trophies and give my unopened copy to my brother so he's ready once he gets a PS5. Looks like one of those games back then that you can rent for a week and return and feel satisfied.

Don't know about replay value after the trophies are completed though...

Isn’t there a PS “blackout”? Is that actually real?

@TheExile117 - Don’t play online and disconnect your PS from the internet. It’s to protest greedy Sony’s decision to end disks and rent you games for 100 bucks. You can still play (and do what you want), but off line is to send the message to those anti consumer robots at Sony.

oh phuck off!

No, Wolverine does not have a "clear moral code"

Wolverine is better described as having a personal code of honor but his rules are flexible
